Youth Confirmation Retreat and Liturgy Registration

Confirmation is the Christian rite of passage in which a baptized person makes a public affirmation of their faith in Christ and commitment to follow Christ’s way of life. For our youth it is a step across a primary threshold between childhood and early adulthood. Since October, we have been meeting monthly as a group to delve into topics surrounding what we believe and why. I am greatly looking forward to our retreat and Confirmation in May! On the pages that follow, please provide the information the staff needs to prepare for both the Confirmation retreat and the liturgy on May 17.—Caroline Harris, Youth Ministry Coordinator
Confirmation Retreat (attendance required), Saturday, May 2, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., at Maymont (1700 Hampton Street)
We are so grateful to be able to have our Confirmation retreat this year at Maymont. The Maymont Foundation oversees a 100-acre landscape above the James River and maintains it as a public park and museum. Pick up and drop off will be at the main gates (1700 Hampton Street). Retreat fee: $55 per candidate. This helps cover lunch, facility use, and other activities. You will receive a link to our payment page in the email you receive after submitting this form. Financial support is available; if needed, contact Caroline Harris (charris@ststephensRVA.org) to make arrangements.

Rite of Confirmation | May 17, 2026
We are looking forward to the bishop's visit on May 17, with Confirmation at both the 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. services. Due to our group's size (which includes adult confirmands), you will be informed in April about which service to attend. Confirmation Mentors
Mentors to confirmands are invited to participate in the liturgy by accompanying the candidate. If they wish to participate (optional), they must be present at the rehearsal on Saturday, May 16 at 11 a.m. If a mentor is unavailable, a parent or other adult is welcome to fill this role in the liturgy and must attend the rehearsal.
