Shelter Building Workshop - Extended Description
Join us in Canton, NC (near I-40, Exit 31) for an intensive hands-on shelter building experience that could save your life. We strongly recommend bringing work gloves - splinters might seem minor, but in a real survival situation, infection from untreated wounds can become life-threatening.
This workshop emphasizes practical construction over lengthy lectures. You'll examine pre-built shelter examples and construct your own using natural materials. If you've ever been disoriented in the wilderness, even briefly, you know that unsettling feeling when familiar landmarks disappear. In those moments, your mind instinctively prioritizes three essentials: fire, water, and shelter.
Quality shelter reduces sun exposure and perspiration, slowing dehydration. In cold conditions, proper insulation conserves enormous amounts of body energy - sometimes eliminating the need for fire entirely.
