Join Playwrights’ Studio, Scotland, the Writers' Guild of Great Britain (WGGB) and the Scottish Society of Playwrights (SSP) for an information session on the topics being raised by playwrights in Scotland and across the UK, and to hear analysis and advice on issues affecting writers, makers and the wider creative industries. There will be an opportunity after the session to meet and chat with representatives of the organisations involved as well as other attendees.
At the request of attendees of recent Playwrights’ Studio events, there will be a particular focus on the how AI is affecting playwriting work and rights (and what we can do about it), as well as a chance to meet and ask questions of any of the organisations present.
The unions will talk about their landmark deal with UK Theatre on the digital exploitation of playwrights' work, their experiences of the issues directly through member casework, campaigning and lobbying, and will lead an open discussion of the wider implications of increasing tech and media industry interest in live theatre, and what that industry’s approach to intellectual property and creative rights will mean for writers.
An online option is available for the main session.
