  • Suzanne Feetham Nurse Scientist Family Research Award

    Awards Criteria and Eligibility

    Each applicant/nominee for the Suzanne Feetham Nurse Scientist Family Research Award, given annually by the Eastern Nursing Research Society, must be an active member of the ENRS who:

    • Has an earned research doctorate (Ph.D., EdD, DNS, or DNSc);
    • Has made outstanding contributions to the understanding of families in health and illness; family functioning; and/or family structure;
    • Has contributed to the development and testing of interventions that improve family functioning;
    • Has completed research and scholarship that informs practice and education so that the circumstances and situations of families may be improved;
    • Has provided information that can inform health care policy to improve the health of families;
    • Has demonstrated leadership in research of families (e.g., mentoring, leadership through family research RIG; etc.);
    • Is not currently an ENRS Board member or ENRS Awards Committee member.

    This award accepts applications from researchers as well as nominations from colleagues. With the above criteria taken into consideration, the applicant/nominee may be in one of two categories:

    • Junior Family Nursing Researcher/Scholar – An earned doctorate within the last 7 years with a developing program of family research and scholarship.
    • Mid-Career/ Senior Family Nursing Researcher/Scholar - A researcher with a well-established program of family research and scholarship.

    The application must include the following documents:

    • Statements from the nominator or applicant (two-page limit; single-spaced; 0.5 margins) and two additional references (one-page limit each) that make the case for the nominee’s major contribution(s), current research involvement, and why these are important (total of three (3) statements to be submitted)
    • Nominee’s up-to-date curriculum vitae that clearly, accurately, and completely documents research contributions and current research activities
    • PDF copies of three (3) representative refereed research publications.

    Notification

    Email notifications will go out in Early February 2026. Winners will be formally recognized on Friday, March 27, 2026, during the Awards Luncheon of the 38th Annual Scientific Sessions.
