  • Scholarship Application Instructions

    Each applicant must submit a complete application package postmarked by the application deadline. The package must include the following:

    1. A completed application form.

    2. A brief, yet complete, essay indicating educational objectives, future plans of study, activities related to the profession, any surveying-related work experience, how you have promoted the profession and your financial status and degree of need. Must be typed. Handwritten essays will not be accepted.

    3. At least one letter of recommendation, from the current calendar year, from a faculty member familiar with the student's work. Applications received without a letter of recommendation will not be accepted.

    4. A complete and official transcript through May of the year prior to when the award will be presented.

    5. Application must be submitted using this online form.

    Incomplete, improperly completed, and late applications will be rejected. Valid applications must be submitted no later than the application deadline.

    It is the obligation of the applicant to ensure that the online application and all required documents, including transcripts, are submitted by the application deadline.

  • NALS EDUCATION FOUNDATION: AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS

    Carefully review the criteria and choose the scholarships you wish to apply for.
  • Steve Parrish Memorial Scholarship ($2500)
    This annual scholarship is awarded once a year to a student enrolled in the Great Basin College Land Surveying Geomatics program. The following criteria will be used to award the scholarship:

    1. Qualified Candidate will complete and return a NALS Foundation Scholarship Application with required letter of recommendation(s), essay, and transcripts by the postmark date.

    2. Qualified Candidate will have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for overall classes.

    3. Preference will be given to students indicating a desire to reside and work in the state of Nevada. If a candidate cannot be found to meet the criteria listed above, the Foundation shall select an applicant as they see fit or choose not to award the scholarship.

    Rita Lumos Leadership Scholarship ($2500)
    This annual scholarship is awarded once a year to a student enrolled in a four-year land surveying degree program. The following criteria will be used to award the scholarship:

    1. Qualified Candidate will complete and return a NALS Foundation Scholarship Application with required letter of recommendation(s), essay, and transcripts by the postmark date.

    2. Qualified Candidate will have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for overall classes.

    Candidates will be selected by applying the following preferences:

    a. A woman pursuing a career in land surveying.

    b. A student who has demonstrated a commitment to professional activities and shown leadership abilities.

    c. A student who has demonstrated an interest in residing and working in the state of Nevada.

    If a candidate cannot be found to meet the criteria listed above, the Foundation shall select an applicant as they see fit or choose not to award the scholarship.

    Bill Cuddy Memorial Scholarship ($2500)
    This annual scholarship is awarded once a year to a student enrolled in a land surveying degree program. The following criteria will be used to award the scholarship:

    1. Qualified Candidate will complete and return a NALS Foundation Scholarship Application with required letter of recommendation(s), essay, and transcripts by the postmark date.

    2. Qualified Candidate will have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for overall classes.

    3. Preference will be given to students demonstrating a desire to provide public awareness for the survey profession.

    If a candidate cannot be found to meet the criteria listed above, the Foundation shall select an applicant as they see fit or choose not to award the scholarship.

    Eric P. Christianson Memorial Scholarship ($2500)
    This annual scholarship is awarded once a year to a student enrolled and attending a 4-year or junior college with survey-related coursework. The following criteria will be used to award the scholarship:

     1. Qualified Candidate will complete and return a NALS Foundation Scholarship Application with required letter of recommendation(s), essay, and transcripts by the postmark date.

    2. Qualified Candidate will have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for survey-related coursework.

    3. Candidates must be current resident(s) of the United States of America. 

    4. Candidate will display leadership qualities, intent to work in a surveying related field within the United States of America. 

    If no candidate can be found to meet the criteria listed above, an award may be issued to candidate with the greatest need.  

    NALS Hispanic/Latino Scholarship ($2500)
    This annual scholarship is awarded once a year to a student enrolled in the Great Basin College Land Surveying Geomatics program. The following criteria will be used to award the scholarship:

    1. Qualified Candidate will complete and return a NALS Foundation Scholarship Application with required letter of recommendation(s), essay, and transcripts by the postmark date.

    2. Qualified Candidate will have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for overall classes.

    3. Preference will be given to students indicating a desire to reside and work in the state of Nevada.

    4. The student must be a U.S. citizen.

    5. The student must be of Hispanic or Latino origin.

    If a candidate cannot be found to meet the criteria listed above, the scholarship will not be awarded.

    Ben Grissom Memorial Scholarship ($2500)
    This annual scholarship is awarded once a year to a student enrolled in a land surveying degree program. The following criteria will be used to award the scholarship:

    1. Qualified Candidate will complete and return a NALS Foundation Scholarship Application with required letter of recommendation(s), essay, and transcripts by the postmark date.

    2. Qualified Candidate will have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for overall classes.

    3. Preference will be given to students indicating a desire to reside and work in civil service in the state of Nevada.

    4. Preference will be given to students that have attended and/or volunteered at NALS Conferences.

    If a candidate cannot be found to meet the criteria listed above, the Foundation shall select an applicant as they see fit or choose not to award the scholarship.

    NALS Trig-Star Scholarship ($1000)
    This annual scholarship is awarded once a year to a student enrolled in in a land surveying degree program.

    1. Qualified Candidate will complete and return a NALS Foundation Scholarship Application with required letter of recommendation(s), essay, and transcripts by the postmark date.

    2. Candidate will have participated in a Trig-Star competition.

    If a candidate cannot be found to meet the criteria listed above, the scholarship will not be awarded. 

    NALS Education Foundation Student Stipend (Amount Varies)
    This stipend is payable each semester that a student is enrolled in a land surveying degree program. This application must be completed and receipts submitted by September 15th & February 15th. A maximum of $3000 will be awarded each year.
