Spiritual CompanionshipTraining Program Application Form

The Spiritual Companionship Training Program is a two-year program that begins in the fall of even-numbered calendar years. Classes run from September to May, with one full day in person each semester and weekly Wednesday night classes online. We invite you to apply by completing the following steps.

Take some time in prayer and reflection to discern your desire to participate in the Internship.
Write a 5-6 page double-spaced description of yourself, including:
1. Why you wish to receive training in spiritual direction, what attracts you to it, what relevance you think it will have for your life and work in the future?
2. Important events in your life, meaningful experiences in ministry to others, relationships with significant people, and the impact of these on your personal and spiritual development, including your sense of the Divine and your experience of prayer, contemplation, and or meditation.
3. The spiritual direction you have received and how it has influenced your development.
4. Your personal strengths and challenges, and your manner of relating with other persons, as these may bear upon your learning and practice of spiritual direction.
Complete and submit the program application along with your essay, which can be uploaded to this application
Request three letters of reference from: a personal friend, a colleague in ministry/work, and someone who knows you professionally or academically. (A form for these individuals can be downloaded from our website here.) Please have reference letters mailed to the Spiritual Life Center, 77 Sherman St, Hartford, CT 06105, or emailed to info@spiritlifectr.org
Include an $80.00 non-refundable Application Fee, which can be paid through our website or by a check made out to the Spiritual Life Center(please be sure to note "for application fee" in the memo section) and mail it to: The Spiritual Life Center, 77 Sherman St, Hartford, CT 06105. A background check is part of the admissions process.

PLEASE NOTE: Interviews will be scheduled when completed applications and references have been received. Applications received after the class is full will be considered for the subsequent Internship.
