The Festival of Trees is an annual outdoor display of over two dozen live Christmas trees at the Piazza dell'Arte, located on the Biden Street side of the Lackawanna County Courthouse, in downtown Scranton. Eagerly anticipated each year, this holiday favorite has raised thousands for the Toys for Tots organization over the years and continues to bring cheer to those in our community. Visitors to the display will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite trees!
Organizations, businesses, schools and individuals are encouraged to participate in the festivities by donating $25 to Toys for Tots at https://wyoming-pa.toysfortots.org. Once your registration and proof of donation have been received, a tree will be reserved for you. Once all trees have been reserved, registration will close.
To kick off the Lackawanna Winter Market festivities, all trees must be decorated by Thursday, December 4th at 5pm. Set up will begin over the weekend of the Thanksgiving holiday. The trees will be supplied by a local tree farm and set up and positioned by Lackawanna County personnel. Participants must supply decorations and LED lights that can withstand harsher weather conditions. Lights must be approved for outdoor use. Power will be supplied on site, though you are encouraged to bring an outdoor extension cord of your own. Please make sure your decorations are snow and wind safe. The use of zip ties, string & wire is imperative for the ornaments to remain securely attached to the trees. It is further suggested that you treat the material/fabric with Scotch Guard to prevent mildew. The trees will stand approximately 6'-7' tall, so you may opt to bring a stepladder as well. Additional details to follow upon completion of registration.
The Festival of Trees will end on Monday, January 12, 2026. Therefore, all decorations must be removed by the end of that day. The trees will be removed and replanted by county staff, so please take care when considering what materials to use. Please also kindly remember to collect items that may have fallen, broken or blown off of your tree, and please dispose of all trash properly.
