The following psalms may be used in the Funeral Service at the Introit, Psalm, Gradual, or the procession when leaving the church. Suggested antiphons are given in parentheses.
Hymn Suggestions
A funeral at Redeemer Lutheran Church is conducted as a Christian worship service. In this service we confess our hope of eternal life and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Therefore all music, words and actions at this service are to help the participants reverently worship our God and Lord in the presence of Christ Jesus, as we remember His promises to the departed and those who gather to pay their respects.
OBITUARY
An obituary may be printed and/or read. If it is read in the Funeral Service, it may occur before the invocation or in connection with the sermon. Several options are provided below. They must be adapted according to circumstance and may be expanded to include additional information, such as the church and location of the deceased's Baptism and Confirmation. When published, the place of burial may also be included. Feel free to fill out either Example 1 or Example 2 (following). Note: these may be edited in the future if you like.
EXAMPLE 1Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant name .
