• CCC Spring Training Camps 2026 - Information & Feedback Form.

By completing this form, you will receive updates as they come out and notice of informational meetings.

As we prepare for the 2026 paddling season, we want to share our plans for spring training camps. These camps support athletes, 14+ years old, preparing for national and international competition, those focusing on skill development and regional events, and athletes seeking their first exposure to a high-level spring training environment. We ask that you review this information and share your intention to attend — this will help us in the final stages of planning.

Due to limited space, priority will be given to athletes whose training objectives and competition goals align with the following:

    • National Team Trials
    • U16 athletes aiming for national championships
    • Athletes aged 14 and older who are entering the competition pathway.

If the camp reaches capacity, unaccepted applications will be placed on a waitlist and may be admitted only if a registered participant withdraws or if additional accommodations become available.

    Background

Historically, the club has held a single spring training camp in Florida during March and April, with athletes attending between 2 and 8 weeks. For 2026, responding to members wishing to avoid Florida, we investigated options in Portugal, Spain and Italy. CCC has held camps in Portugal and, based on that experience, opted out of that site.

After consideration of cost, coach availability, travel logistics, proximity to home, currency exposure, equipment certainty, and minimizing time out of the country for most athletes, we have decided to present two camp options for 2026: Nanaimo, British Columbia, and Long Beach, California. This combination balances accessibility and affordability while meeting a range of athlete development and competition goals.

  • Spring Training Camp Options for 2026

  • 1. April Camp – Nanaimo, British Columbia (2–3 weeks)

    • Dates: April 4 to April 25
    • Location: Inn on Long Lake, Nanaimo, BC — www.innonlonglake.com

    Considerations

    • Suited for athletes preparing for late-season peak performance at the Divisional and Canadian Championships.
    • Those aiming for National Team Trials 2 (NTT2) in mid-June who require early-season on-water time.
    • Senior athletes seeking additional spring training volume following March training, providing a smooth continuation into the competitive season.
    • Open to a full range of paddlers — from developing to senior-level athletes — creating opportunities for exposure to role models, mentorship, and a high-performance training environment.
    • Those seeking an affordable, accessible camp closer to home.
    • Not suitable for March but April sees high temperatures in the mid teens - making this Canadian location possible. Variable spring climate, may affect comfort and some training sessions.

    Estimated Cost

    • 2 weeks: $1,700 – $2,400
    • 3 weeks: $2,248 – $2,922
    • Based on 15–30 athletes; includes shared coaching and boat transport. Travel and meals extra.
    • Fees are presented as estimates – final amounts will be set once the participant numbers are confirmed. No provincial subsidy or fundraising is included in these fees.

    2. March Camp –

    • CHANGED from Long Beach to SAN DIEGO (4 weeks)
    • Dates: February 28 to March 28
    • Location: Mission Bay, CA

    Considerations

    • Warm, consistent early-season climate is ideal for high-volume on-water training.
    • Senior athletes seeking advanced on-water training early in the season.
    • Athletes targeting National Team Trials and international team selection.
    • Camp timed to end with National Team Trials 1 – March 28 in Chula Vista, California.
    • Athletes seeking extended warm-weather training to build technique, endurance, and race readiness.
    • Smaller group size than past Florida camps may increase per-athlete costs due to reduced sharing of coaching and boat transport.
    • Fees are presented as estimates – final amounts will be set once the participant numbers are confirmed. No provincial subsidy or fundraising is included in these fees.

  • Should be Empty:
