There is a growing movement of concerned and frustrated citizens who feel the 10 year old downtown New Rochelle development plan is not benefitting those of us that actually live here.
As such, we demand our elected leaders enact a downtown building approval moratorium of no less than six months. During this time the following are needed: detailed project post-mortem to assess the decade old DOZ Project vs what was promised, updated traffic / environmental impact studies, and a compelling case that further downtown development (beyond the original 2015 targets) will bring tangible benefits to the residents.
This is not NIMBY, this is not anti-development, this is about course correcting on a plan that has created numerous issues (glut of unaffordable apartments, parking, traffic, etc) while not delivering benefits to the community at large
