  • Would you know what to do if your dog suddenly choked on a bone? What if your cat ate a toxic substance, like chocolate? Do you have a plan for your pet in the event you need to evacuate your family from your home? Learn how to prepare for and prevent emergencies and how to provide temporary, urgent care to cats and dogs until they can reach a veterinary or emergency clinic.

We offer two types of classes. No prior experience or training is required for either class.

Pet First Aid Basics is a two-hour class for anyone with pets in their lives. We will focus on prevention and early identification of pet emergencies, and practice techniques for bleeding control, giving CPR, and helping a pet who is choking.

Pet First Aid and Disaster Response is a four and a half hour class for people who are looking for a more comprehensive understanding of emergency care, including bleeding, CPR and choking, plus how to prepare for situations that require evacuation or sheltering in place. Participants will receive a copy of Pet First Aid and Disaster Response Guide. Successful completion of the course earns a certificate from the Emergency Care and Safety Institute, perfect for pet professionals!

All programs take place at Seattle Humane: 13212 SE Eastgate Way in Bellevue.
