How We Place Our Kittens

All of our kittens are raised in our homes with hands-on care, quiet routines, and lots of love. Health, temperament, and ethical breeding come first here. We place each kitten with a family where we believe they will be safe, cherished, and able to thrive.

Before you apply, please:

Read our pages on care, nutrition, vaccines, and how placements work
Look over breed health topics for Maine Coons, Ragdolls, and British Shorthairs, including HCM screening and DNA tests
Think through what a lifetime commitment looks like in your home, from vet care to enrichment and daily time together

We’re committed to placing our kittens and cats with responsible, loving families. This is a big decision and it’s worth careful reading and research. If our approach feels right and you’re ready to move forward, we’d be honored to review your Kitten Application.

Deposits & 2025 Pricing — Almonte Cats

Waitlist Deposit: $500 to join our kitten waitlist for future litters.
Reservation Deposit: $1,000 to reserve an available kitten.
2025 Kitten Price: $4,500 total per kitten, regardless of breed.

How it works:

All deposits are non-refundable and applied to your purchase price.
Your waitlist deposit holds your place in line. When you choose a kitten, the reservation deposit is due to secure that kitten.
Remaining balance is due before go-home day according to your contract.
Deposits are not transferable to other families and may be moved to a later litter at our discretion if timing is not a match.

Our cats deserve enriched, stable lives. We do not place kittens in caged catterys or cage environments or as outdoor-only pets. We place them as indoor family companions with supervised or secured outdoor time (catio or leash), as therapy/ESA partners where appropriate, or as show alters. Breeding placements are by prior written agreement only, and only to approved catteries that we have previously partenered with.

We do call an Applicant's Veterinarian for a reference. In order to expedite the processing of your Kitten Application, please notify your Veterinarian's Office PRIOR TO turning in an Application, that we will be calling and give them authorization to talk to us.

We send each kitten home with access to 30 days of free Trupanion health insurance (we help you activate it on go-home day). We expect families to maintain pet insurance or have sufficient funds to provide veterinary care for the cat’s entire life. Please select one:

Do you agree to contact us if for any reason you need to rehome your cat/kitten?

We reserve first and exclusive rights to take back our kittens if you can no longer keep them. We are committed to our kittens for life and will not allow them to be placed in shelters etc.

Schedule a convenient time for us to call and discuss your application. DO NOT schedule a time if you have not submitted an application and are not serious about adopting one of our kittens or joining our waitlist. We will cancel appointments that are not accompanied by a completed application.
