Scentwork Transtions

Ready to take your dog's nose work to the next level? This class is designed for dogs that are successfully searching for food rewards and are ready to begin recognizing and locating target odors.

Using positive, reward-based training, teams will learn how to make the transition from finding food to confidently searching for birch odor—the first target odor used in AKC Scent Work. Dogs will develop independent searching skills while handlers learn how to recognize changes in their dog's behavior, build effective search strategies, and reward successful finds.

 Instructors
Diane LaBarbera is the instructor for this class.  She competes in AKC and NACSW Scent/Nose work with her American Eskimo Dogs earning titles in multiple levels and elements with all of her dogs.  Several of her students have started competing in AKC Scentwork earning qualifying legs and titles and are doing well in the competition environment.

Class Requirements

Dogs attending this class should have attended an Intro to Scentwork class or have some experience searching for food/treats.  They must be current on all vaccinations.  Proof of vaccines should be emailed to ClarksvilleKennelClub@gmail.com prior to the first night of class.

Class Location, Dates & Times

Classes are held at the Clarksville Kennel Club's Training Building - 114 Kraft Street, Bldg. D, Clarksville, TN

This is a 6-week course meeting on Tuesday nights. The first 2 classes (July 28th & August 4th) will start at 6:45pm.  The rest of the classes (August 11, 18, 25 & September 8) will start at 6:00pm.

If the class shows as "Sold Out" below, please submit your email address to be added to the waitlist and notified of the next class.

All classes provided by the Clarksville Kennel Club are NOT for aggresive dogs.  A dog showing aggression, and/or that is uncontrollable, will be immediately excused for the remainder of the class session for the safety of others.  No refund for remaining classes will be given.

PAYMENT

Payment is due to complete your registration.  Payment will be made through PayPal by clicking the link at the bottom of the registration form.
