• Model Open Call - Figure Drawing

    Please fill out the form below to apply as a model for our upcoming open studio sessions. Classes are held upstairs at Jane St. Art Center, 11 Jane St, Ste A, Saugerties, NY, 12477.

  • All models will pose nude, and must wear a robe during breaks.

    Pay is $80 per 3 hour class.

  • Note: We currently only have classes on Mondays, Fridays, and some Wednesdays.

  • Model Expectations:

    We strive to have a safe and supportive environment for both our artists and models. Our classroom is upstairs and we have a high caliber gallery downstairs. Because of this, we have a few expectations for our models:

     

    1. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the class you are scheduled for is set to begin in order to get changed and prepare for the class.
    2. If you cannot make a class you are scheduled for, please let our modeling coordinator know as soon as possible so we can arrange another model.
    3. Please wear shoes when you arrive and leave the gallery. You are more than welcome to walk around upstairs without shoes during breaks but we require shoes when you are in the gallery space.
    4. Bring and wear a rope or appropriate cover up for any time you are not modeling on the stage. We have an office and private bathroom available for changing in and out of clothes. 
    5. If you are uncomfortable for any reason whatsoever, please bring it up with our staff. Our director typically monitors classes. We do not want anyone to feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
    6. Please do not talk while posing on the stage unless you are working with the artists to pose. It can be distracting. You are more than welcome to chat with the artists during breaks. Do not feel you have to chat with anyone if you do not want to.
    7. If you are asked about photographing your pose, do not feel obligated to say yes. If you do agree, but then change your mind, do not hesitate to let us know. We want to make sure you are comfortable. Do not feel like you need to consent just because you are being paid. We want you to feel comfortable and safe.

  • Artist Expectations:

    We strive to have a safe and supportive environment for both our artists and models. We understand that nude modeling requires trust and can leave the model feeling vulnerable. These is what we expect from our artists:

     

    1. Do not touch or invade the model's personal space.
    2. Do not photograph the model without explicit permission. The model is free to not give consent, and when consent is given, can revoke that permission at any time.
    3. Do not talk to the model while they are posing. This can be distracting. You are more than welcome to chat during breaks.
    4. Do not make the model uncomfortable.
    5. Do not make comments about the model or their body.
    6. The model does not have to talk with you at all, especially not about their personal lives.
    7. We do not share contact information for models.
    8. Do not ask about who is modeling. We do not give out that information.
    9. Only sign up for classes if you are serious about drawing the human form. If you are there for any other reason, you will be asked to leave. If you are not signed up for a class, you are not welcome in the studio.
