    Here’s how:

    Open the group chat
Tap the group name at the top
Select “Mute notifications” (you can choose 8 hours, 1 week, or “Always”)
You’ll still see new messages when you open WhatsApp - you just won’t get pinged constantly. Most people find this helps them stay connected on their own terms.

    Purpose and Values
Gingers exists to provide a respectful, and inclusive community space for connection, kōrero, friendship, and support.
Our kaupapa celebrates lesbian culture and the wider FLINTA* community and gender minorities - Female, Lesbian, Intersex, Non-binary, Trans, Agender, and other gender-diverse people, including bisexual and pansexual identities.

By joining this community, you agree to participate in good faith and uphold these shared values.

    1. Community Conduct
Treat all members with respect, kindness, and care.
Discriminatory, exclusionary, or hostile comments or behaviour are not accepted under any circumstances.
Gingers reserves the right to remove any member whose behaviour breaches these standards, without prior notice.
Privacy and consent matter - do not message or contact members or the admins privately unless they have clearly given you permission. You can contact gingers at gingerspopupsnz@gmail.com

    2. Content and Promotion
This WhatsApp space is for connection and conversation - not for event or product promotion.
Because Gingers cannot verify every external event’s inclusivity or kaupapa, we do not allow event links or advertisements be shared here.
Members are welcome to talk about events they are attending or recommending, but you must take personal responsibility to ensure those events are inclusive of our gender-diverse whānau.
Promotional or advertising content will be removed.

    3. Respect, Safety, and Privacy
This community is designed to be a safe and confidential space.
Do not share personal details, messages, or screenshots from this group outside it without express consent from everyone involved.
If you feel unsafe or need to report concerning behaviour, contact the admins at gingerspopupsnz@gmail.com.
Gingers is not responsible for disputes, personal conflicts, or relationship issues between members. These matters must be managed privately.

    4. Inclusivity and Zero Tolerance Policy
Any comments, posts, or actions that challenge or undermine the inclusivity of FLINTA* members and gender minorities will result in immediate removal from all Gingers spaces.
“Inclusivity” means accepting and affirming people’s self-identified gender and sexuality.
The admin team reserves the right to remove or ban members if their conduct risks the safety or wellbeing of others.

    5. Organisation Information
    Gingers is a private, not-for-profit, self-funded company.
All content, branding, and communication associated with Gingers remain the intellectual property of its organisers.
