  • Street Law’s Classroom Champion Award honors exceptional classroom teachers who:

    • Use student-centered interactive methodologies.
    • Use Street Law-developed materials in engaging ways.
    • Further Street Law’s mission of advancing justice through education.

    The teacher selected as the 2026 Classroom Champion and one guest will receive a trip to Washington, DC, to attend the Street Law Awards Gala on May 6, 2026. Participation in the Awards Gala program is required, so please only complete your nomination if you are able to do this.  

    The nomination deadline is January 15, 2026.  

  • To qualify for the Classroom Champion Award, nominees must:  

    • Teach middle or high school students at a public, private, or independent school in the United States.
    • Use Street Law’s materials in engaging ways (including but not limited to textbooks, case summaries, SCOTUS in the Classroom, lesson plans, deliberation materials, etc.).

    • Use student-centered, interactive methods (including but not limited to moot courts, mock trials, deliberations, incorporates legal resource people, simulations, etc.).

    • Demonstrate a dedication to Street Law’s mission: “We advance civic and law related education to empower all people to positively transform their world.”

    • Demonstrate leadership in and dedication to civics and/or law-related education in their school and/or wider community.

  • Required letter of support. Please submit a letter of support (up to 2 pages long), which may come from a supervisor, department chair, co-teacher, student, or administrator. The letter of support should include specific examples of the nominee’s dedication to civic and/or law-related education, as well as information about their teaching methodologies and success in sharing Street Law materials with students.
