PSC Nomination Form: Special Ed Teacher and Elementary Principal

The Idaho Department of Education is accepting nominations to fill two (2) vacancies on the PSC. Idaho education stakeholder organizations and qualified educators are invited to submit nominations through November 30, 2025. Eligible nominees for open positions are:

certificated Idaho public school teachers of exceptional children
certificated elementary school principals

Selected nominees are appointed by the Idaho State Board of Education to serve a three-year term.

The PSC is comprised of 18 commissioners from across the state who respresent public pre-K - 12 education. The commission makes recommendations to the State Board of Education and renders decisions that provide Idaho with competent, qualified, ethical educators dedicated to rigorous standards, pre-K-12 student achievement, and improved professional practice. The PSC is empowered by law to investigate and determine if a violation of the law or the Idaho Code of Ethics for Professional Educators has occurred. Additionally, the PSC accepts proposals for consideration from public school districts and charter schools, educator preparation providers, public education stakeholder organizations, and members of the public to help improve the quality of educator preparation, educator certification, and educator ethics in the state of Idaho.

Meetings are typically held five times each school year. In-person meetings are typically held in Boise, and virtual meetings are held via Zoom. While appointed members do not receive a stipend to serve on the PSC, eligible PSC members receive lodging, as well as travel and applicable meal reimbursement for in-person meetings. Substitute reimbursement is available for school districts and charter schools whose classroom teachers serve on the PSC.

If you are eligble for one (1) of the open positions, you can nominate yourself for appointment to the PSC. Please fill out the form below and attach a current resume, letter of interest, and a letter of recommendation from a supervisor.

Nominations are accepted through Sunday, November 30, 2025. Nominees who are appointed to the PSC by the Idaho State Board of Education will be notified in February 2026.
