    NAC/CNA TRADITIONAL TRAINING ATTENDANCE POLICY

  • PURPOSE:

Attendance is essential for the successful completion of the NAC/CNA Traditional
Training Program. State regulations require students to complete a minimum number of classroom theory, lecture hall, skills lab, and clinical hours. Missing hours places students at risk of not meeting certification requirements and may result in dismissal from the program per the Washington State Board of Nursing regulations.

Please read and sign the documents below to confirm you understand and
will adhere to the rules and regulations for the required attendance policy.

    1. GENERAL ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS

    • Students must attend 100% of scheduled classroom, skills lab, and clinical
      sessions.
    • Arriving more than 15 minutes late or leaving early will be counted as an
      absence.
    • Attendance is recorded at the start of every session.

    2. CLASSROOM/THEORY ATTENDANCE

    • 100% attendance in all theory classes.
    • Students must be present for the entire class period.
    • Students must return from break on time.
    • All missed material, assignments, and skills must be made up independently.
    • Make-up opportunities for classroom or lab sessions are at the discretion of the instructor and are not guaranteed.

    SKILLS LAB ATTENDANCE

    • 100% attendance and participation in all required skills lab sessions.
    • Students must be present for the entire skills sessions.
    • Students must return from break on time.
    • All missed material, assignments, and skills must be made up independently.
    • Make-up opportunities for classroom or lab sessions are at the discretion of the instructor and are not guaranteed.

    3. CLINICAL ATTENDANCE

    • Students are required to complete all scheduled clinical hours as mandated by
      the state.
    • No clinical absences are permitted. Missing clinical hours jeopardizes program
      completion and CNA exam eligibility.

  • IF AN ABSENCE OCCURS DUE TO ILLNESS OR EMERGENCY

    • The student must notify the instructor at least 2 hours before the
      scheduled start time.
    • Documentation (doctor’s note, emergency verification, etc.) is required.
    • Clinical make-ups may be offered only if the training site and program schedules allow. Availability is limited and not guaranteed.

    4. ABSENCE REPORTING PROCEDURE

    • Classroom/Lab Absence: Students must notify the instructor by email or phone call at least 2 hours before class begins.
    • Clinical Absence: Students must notify both the clinical instructor and the
program office by phone call no later than 2 hours before the shift begins.
    • Text messages or notifying another student is not acceptable.
    • Failure to follow the reporting procedure may result in the absence being marked unexcused, regardless of reason.

    5. MISSED CLINICAL CONSEQUENCES & FEES

    • Because clinical placements involve facility coordination and instructor time, missed clinical days will incur a rescheduling fee of $175.00 per day.
    • If make-up hours cannot be arranged, the student will be dismissed from the
      program.
    • Students who fail to complete the required number of clinical hours will be
ineligible for certification completions and state testing.

    6. EXCESSIVE ABSENCES & DISMISSAL

    • Students who exceed the allowed classroom/lab absence or miss any clinical
hours that cannot be rescheduled will be dismissed from the program.
    • Dismissed students may re-enroll in a future session at the discretion of the
      program director.
    • If approved for a future session at the discretion of the director, a repayment for the course in full will be required.

    7. PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS

    • Consistent attendance and punctuality reflect the expectations of the healthcare profession.
    • Chronic tardiness, leaving early, or failing to notify instructors of absences may result in disciplinary action or dismissal.
