    NOTE: This form is for applicants who have NOT previously served on GSA summer staff (including if you have been previously offered a position at GSA, but ultimately did not work at the summer program). If you have previously been on GSA summer staff, please complete this application instead.

    Before completing this application, review the points below and then check the box to acknowledge you understand the following information:

    Kentucky's Governor's School for the Arts (GSA) is a three-week residential summer program for promising high-school aged artists. To learn more about the program, visit www.kentuckygsa.org or contact us at gsainfo@kentuckyperformingarts.org.

    GSA 2026 New Staff application is due December 28, 2025 by 11:59pm ET

    Applicants will receive follow up communication from GSA Administration no later than the week of January 6th, 2026.

    Interviews will take place during the month of January 2026.

    Offer letters will be sent via email in February 2026 and must be returned within 72 hours.

  • GSA 2026 Staffing Structure:

    - 2 CRS positions available

    - 1 Head RA position available 

    - Multiple RA positions available

    - 1 Head DA position available

    - Up to 13 DA positions available

    NOTE: Dance, Instrumental Music, and Visual Art will have 2 DAs.

    - 3 Intern positions available

  • The GSA 2026 Summer Program will take place in June at Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, KY. Please review the following dates.

    GSA 2026 Summer Staff employment dates: June 1-June 28, 2026

    NOTE: All staff members must be moved into their room on campus prior to the start of training.

    All Staff In Person Training Week: All staff of GSA 2026 must attend an in-person training week prior to the start of the summer program (Monday, June 1st through Saturday, June 6th). 

    Housing and meals will be provided to all staff members during this week. 

     

    GSA 2026: June 7, 2026- June 27, 2026 (This is when the summer program begins and ends for GSA students)

    The final date of employment for staff members is Sunday June 28, 2026.

    ALL Staff Members must participate in Sunday's clean up and reset.

     

    GSA welcomes applicants regardless of whether or not they are alumni of the summer program.

    In previous years, GSA operated on a two-session model. Beginning in 2026, the GSA summer program will consist of a single session held in June.

  • All summer staff positions are full-time. Each summer staff member can expect to work a minimum of 40 hours a week, sometimes more.

    Below are the GSA 2026 summer staff pay rates:

    1st Time Staff Member- $12.00 per hour

    Returning Staff Member- $13.00 per hour

    Head Residential Advisor and Program Management Intern- $13.50 per hour

    Head Discipline Assistant- $14.00 per hour

    Co Residential Supervisors- $14.00 per hour

    Staff are provided food and housing. More details will be made available during the interview process.

  • A brief description of each 1st time summer staff position can be found below; please be sure to review the full job description for your position(s) of interest on the GSA website here prior to completing your application. 

    Residential Advisor (RA): Staff who live in a residential hall with GSA students, providing supervision and mentorship to students outside of the classroom/studio setting. Applicants must have graduated high school no later than 2024 in order to apply. Multiple positions available. 

    Discipline Assistant (DA): Staff who assist faculty in the classroom and provide supervision and mentorship to students in the classroom/studio setting. DAs are provided on-campus housing but do not live in the same residential hall as GSA students. Applicants must have graduated high school no later than 2024 in order to apply.

    One DA position available for each artform: Creative Writing, Dance*, Design, Drama, Film + Photography, Graphic Design, Instrumental Music*, Musical Theatre, Visual Art*, and Vocal Music.  (*Two DA positions are available for Instrumental Music, Dance, and Visual Art).

    Administrative Intern: Staff who assist the GSA Administrative Team with various aspects of the summer program, including  event planning, contract management, special projects, etc. Interns are provided on-campus housing but do not live in the same residential hall as GSA students. Must be a high school graduate to apply. Two positions per session available.

  • Group Interviews for new staff applicants will be conducted via Zoom during the month of January 2026. This interview will be led by 1-3 members of GSA Administration and 1-2 members of GSA 2025 staff leadership. All interviews will last for 90 minutes and take place in the Eastern Time Zone.

    A link to schedule your group interview will be emailed to you no later than the week of January 5th, 2026. The due date for scheduling your interview will be included in the email.
