Prior to Installation
- Approximately two months prior to your exhibition opening, on the first of the month, a Press Kit will be due to TAF via an online form. This will be your final chance to change/confirm the exact spelling, capitalization, and punctuation of your name/your group’s name, your show title, and other elements that will then be used in TAF’s marketing.
- Approximately two weeks prior to the beginning of your gallery installation dates, you will be expected to attend an exhibitors’ meeting in person at TAF. This will be your chance to meet the other artists that will be exhibiting at the same time in the other galleries and plan for the opening reception, so it is advised that you attend in person, rather than sending a representative.
Installation/Deinstallation
- The Wells Community Cultural Center can accommodate 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional work, including interactive installations.
- Artwork must be displayed in a professional manner, e.g. framed. Artists may borrow TAF’s pedestals and should consult the gallery inventory for planning purposes.
- Artwork affixed to the wall must be properly prepared for installation using TAF’s Walker Hanging System.
- No sawtooth hangers may be used.
- No adhesives stronger than painter's tape. (We highly recommend green Frog Tape.)
- Low-stick vinyl applique no stronger than blue painter's tape or frog tape, when properly installed, is fine.
- Artwork size may be limited by the building’s doors, which are 4’11 wide x 6’10” high.

- All work must remain on display during the published exhibition dates. No art may be removed from display until the exhibition’s closing date.
- The artist must supply an inventory/price list, labels, and an artist statement at the time of installation.
Sales
- All sales transactions must be handled by a TAF staff member and made payable to TAF. All sales from the exhibition are subject to a 30% commission to be retained by TAF. Artwork is considered sold when TAF receives 100% of the payment.
- Sales tax will be charged to the buyer upon purchase.
- All artwork should remain in the exhibition until the closing date.
- TAF is not responsible for any shipping costs for sales of artwork. Any and all shipping of artwork must be coordinated and paid for between the artist and the buyer.
Receptions

TAF may provide a water cooler, tables, and tablecloths on which to display any refreshments provided by the artists. TAF will pay for publicity and marketing of the reception as outlined below.
Publicity & Marketing
The Arts Federation publicizes exhibitions to the general public by coordinating:
- Television, radio, and print advertising;
- Exhibition postcard mailings;
- Social media campaigns; and
- Email announcements
Artist-generated publicity is a necesssary addition to TAF’s efforts!
We encourage you to personally send materials as early as possible to anyone you wish. If you create your own materials, we request that you send us an advance copy so we can double-check for errors in dates, times, etc. This is for your protection as well as for our awareness of what has our name or logo attached to it. Materials that contain errors—show cards, flyers, etc.— will not be allowed in the galleries.
Artist Services
As a professional service to any juried artist whose studio is located within The Arts Federation’s 14-county service area, a studio visit and consultation with TAF staff may be scheduled at no cost. Artists can also request help with technical skills, advice on new professional contacts, vendors, clients, markets, etc.
Liability
Although the greatest of care and respect will be given to all works exhibited in the galleries, The Arts Federation is NOT responsible for any loss or damage. Exhibitors are responsible for all insurance and liability for artwork exhibited.
Statement Regarding Missed Communications
In our digital age, many forms of communication such as email and cell phone service have brought increased access to opportunities for many. TAF is glad to have these tools at our disposal and will use them to the best of our abilities. Unfortunately, however, even the most advanced of these methods can still prove inadequate or malfunctional, and messages are missed. We ask that, to minimize this risk, you ensure that you submit a working and accessible email address and phone number that you check often with your application and keep us apprised of any changes that may need to be made. While we would consider it a disappointment, we are not responsible for deadlines missed due to an artist being unable to access the email account with which they applied or from voicemail messages that cannot be left because the inbox is full. TAF will always make the effort to reach out multiple times by various contact methods, but ultimately can only effectively utilize those which are well-attended by the owner.
