Yom HaShoah is Israel’s official day of remembrance for the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust as well as for Jewish resistance fighters. This year’s theme will be Resistance and Resilience, featuring keynote speaker Ruth Bielski. Ruth’s father is Tuvia Bielski, one of the four Bielski Brothers who led a partisan group in Belarus during World War II known for establishing a community in the Naliboki forest that sheltered and protected over 1,200 Jews from the Nazis. Their story is a powerful example of Jewish resistance and survival during the Holocaust.
