  • Section 1: Applicant Information

  • Eligibility

You must be able to tick all three boxes in order to be considered for a place on the course. If you have any questions regarding eligibility, please email bficamps@callingtheshots.co.uk
  • Personal Information

  •  - -
  • Previous BFI Courses

It is not a requirement that you have already attended a previous BFI course
  • Financial Support

  • The Art Department course itself is completely FREE - we offer financial support for students from lower socio-economic backgrounds but this is only provided to cover travel, childcare and other access costs associated with attending, as the course itself costs nothing to attend and we provide food and accomodation free of charge to all students.

As part of our ongoing commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion the BFI Film Academy offers bursaries to support young people from lower socio-economic backgrounds to take part in our programmes.

This year in addition to our standard bursaries, we are also pleased to offer five Leverhulme grants to cover travel, childcare and access costs, for young people under the age of 18 who face socioeconomic barriers.

  • Please note, if your application is shortlisted and you are offered a place on a specialist course you will be sent a more detailed bursary form to apply.

  • Section 2: Supporting Statement

  • We always receive more applications than places available, and make our decisions based on the answers in your application form.

We're not expecting you to write a lot! We're looking for you to demonstrate your  creativity and interest in a career in the Art Department. As a rough guide, approximately 250 words is right for the first two questions, but if you need to write a bit more, that's okay.

We strongly encourage you to save your supporting statements in a word document and cut and paste them into the application form to avoid losing your work!

**If you would prefer to film/voice record your answers, you can record these, upload them to Vimeo, YouTube or a file sharing website like WeTransfer and copy/paste the link into the relevent box**

  • 1) Why do you want to take part?

  • 2) Tell us about your interest and/or experience in film/art

  • 3) Show us your work

If sharing work via a link, please ensure we can access the link. Check the privacy setting to make sure anyone with the link access the file. Also we generally suggest against sharing the file via a school account - the files will generally not be accessible for those outside the school's staff and students.
