MEMBERSHIP COMMITMENT: YES!

I agree to join my fellow employees and become a member of Western New Mexico University Faculty NEA (“my Local”) as well as NEA-NM and the National Education Association. I hereby request and voluntarily accept membership in these associations at that time and agree to abide by the Constitution and Bylaws of all three associations, as may be amended.
ANNUAL PAYMENT AUTHORIZATION: YES!

I hereby agree to pay the annual (Sep. 1 – Aug. 31) dues established by the three associations in consideration for the services the union provides. My dues obligations and rights and benefits of membership will begin upon notice that my Local has obtained recognition of the exclusive bargaining representative. I understand that these annual amounts will be determined by the governing bodies of the three associations, and will be provided to me when dues payments begin. I authorize on a continuing basis, and regardless of my membership status, the payment of those annual amounts established by the three organizations through payroll deduction or another designated payment method unless I revoke this authorization in writing sent to 2007 Botulph Rd, Santa Fe, NM 87505 via U.S. mail between August 1 and August 31 of the membership year immediately preceding the membership year for which the authorization is to be canceled. I understand the amount collected includes certain voluntary contributions that can be refunded pursuant to NEA-NM procedures.**
I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS AGREEMENT IS VOLUNTARY AND IS NOT A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT AND THAT I HAVE THE LEGAL RIGHT TO REFUSE TO SIGN THIS AGREEMENT WITHOUT SUFFERING ANY REPRISAL.

** Fifteen dollars ($15.00) of the amount collected from Active Professionals (although collected in the same manner as dues) is a voluntary contribution to the NEA-New Mexico Education Political Action Committee (EdPAC). This voluntary contribution may be refunded to members who request it according to the procedures contained in the NEA-NM Bylaws. To request a refund, visit www.neanm.org. The NEA-NM EdPAC collects voluntary contributions from association members and uses them for political purposes, including but not limited to, making contributions to and expenditures on behalf of friends of education who are candidates for elected office. Contributions to EdPAC are voluntary; making a contribution is neither a condition of employment nor membership in the Association, and members have the right to refuse to contribute without suffering any reprisal. Only U.S. citizens and permanent residents are eligible to contribute to EdPAC. If you are ineligible, please contact NEA-NM prior to completing payment.

NM Educator Defense Fund is twenty-four dollars ($24.00) of the amount collected from Active Professionals or six dollars ($6.00) of the amount collected from part-time Active Education Professionals (although collected in the same manner as dues). The NEA-NM Foundation is five dollars ($5.00) of the amount collected from Active Professionals (although collected in the same manner as dues). These are voluntary contributions and may be refunded to members who request it according to procedures of the board of directors. Forms for requesting the refund are available at www.neanm.org; contributing is neither a condition of employment nor membership in the Association, and members have the right to refuse
to contribute without suffering any reprisal.
