  • Pioneering Adventure Skills Facilitators Course

  • A Pioneering Adventure Skills Facilitator (ASF) Course will be run on 16th-17th May in Glendale Wilderness Lodge, Co. Wicklow.

    The course will provide the participant with the skillset required to teach and assess Pioneering up to Level 6.

    The course counts as an ASF course for Scouters Woodbadge scheme. Participants must attend both days. Camping is available, but camping is not mandatory.

    There will be some pre-learning involved which will be shared on registration. Only 24 places are available

    The course runs on Saturday and Sunday, but the Team are also offering an SI Knife Skills for anyone who'd like to arrive on Friday evening (15th May).

    This Knife Skills course starts at 7pm sharp and attendance for the full course is required for certification. The course will count as a Learning for Your Team element of the Wood Badge. This course is €25 and includes accommodation in the lodge and breakfast on Saturday morning. Without accommodation, it is €15.

    Camping is available on the Friday evening regardless of whether one is doing the knife course or not.

    Pioneering ASF Course Times:

        Registration: 9.00am Saturday 16th May.

        Course starts at 9.30 sharp

        Finish: Around lunch time on Sunday 17th May.

  • The Level 2 Fixed-Blade Knife Course is a specialized 3.5-hour "in-person" training session developed under Scouting Ireland's 2025/2026 knife policy. It is designed to qualify adult Scouters and Rovers to use fixed-blade knives and, importantly, to facilitate youth training in their own groups.
