  • Diabetes Prevention Program- Participant Eligibility 

    The purpose of the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) is to prevent or reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes. This program will help participants achieve a moderate weight loss (5–7% of their initial weight) by eating healthy and being active (150 minutes of physical activity per week).Who can participate? If your answer is "yes" to all the questions, you are eligible to participate in this program. Are you over 18 years of age? Are you NOT taking any medication for the treatment of diabetes (for example, metformin or insulin)? Can you attend educational sessions that provide a curriculum to prevent type 2 diabetes?   • Join us on May 6, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. During the event, we will offer a free nutrition education session featuring a live cooking demonstration, available in English or Spanish. Participants will learn practical ways to increase their intake of fruits, vegetables, protein, and dietary fiber in their meals and snacks. We will also discuss recommendations for appropriate food portion sizes, as well as how to read and analyze nutrition labels. As part of the session, participants will receive: Free nutrition education, free healthy recipes, and a healthy food tasting experience.
