    Nominate a student for a 26-27 AY fellowship
  • Nominations are due by 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 8, 2025. This form is to be completed by the program director or program staff member. 

    The competition is for funding during academic year 2026–27. Programs may apply for funding for one or two semesters of fellowship funding.

    Nominations are made by the graduate program director in consultation with program faculty. Each doctoral program may nominate up to two (2) students. You will submit a separate form for each nominee.

  • Students may now receive fellowship funding for their penultimate year or final year of degree work. Students who win this fellowship in their penultimate year may not receive a second year of funding via this fellowship.

  • To determine a student’s current total earned graduate credit hours, run the “MonitorTotalCreditsToward174Rule” report in the GradTracker Reports tab, and use the number in the column titled “Total Units Toward 174 (UC all courses except Drops + External Masters)”.

  • Documents to upload

    1. A recommendation letter from the student’s dissertation chair, providing context for the significance of student’s dissertation work. 
    2. Student’s curriculum vitae.
    3. Dissertation abstract or summary.
    4. Student’s dissertation impact statement: The relevance of the student's research/scholarship to related fields and the contribution that the student’s research/scholarship will make (the impact of the research/scholarship may not be immediate). 1-3 pages if written, no more than 3 minutes if filmed as an elevator pitch/3MT-style video.
      Note: Please write this statement with a non-specialist audience in mind. The selection committee will be composed of members of the UC community from a wide variety of fields. Use language that is accessible to a general audience. Keep field-specific terminology to a minimum, and define these terms when use is necessary.  
    5. Student’s statement of goals for use of the fellowship support during the fellowship year and anticipated timeline for dissertation work and graduation (1-3 pages).
