Expectations for ReelDx Interns:

• Must be in college or have already obtained a college degree
• Minimum 3-month commitment (or completion of intern cycle) with five hours per week

Please complete the following tasks that you have selected.

Each task should take approximately ten minutes.

Quality Control Task (Page 1/2)

Step 1: Download this pdf of an example patient case. 

Step 2: Use the guidelines provided here to find at least 10 errors (Hint: there's more than 10) in the case. 

Step 3: Identify errors by highlighting the error, correcting it, and providing a short explanation to your change. 

*Note - Use the provided example here to guide the formatting of your responses. It does not need to be identical, but please make your corrections clear. We recommend using a note-taking app or pdf editing software to create your response! (If you are having trouble, you may also list the errors you found on a blank document. Please make it clear which sections you are referencing)

You do not need to understand and fact check all of the medical lingo in order to complete this task; checking spelling and grammar of complex terms/sentences, along with the information provided in the attached guidelines, is sufficient

Quiz Creation (Page 1/2) 

Step 1: Download and review the provided PDF patient case.

Step 2: Using the information from the case, create 3 multiple-choice questions, each with 4 answer choices. Be sure to:

• Highlight the correct answer (e.g., bold or underline).
• Explain your reasoning for the correct and incorrect answers.
• Provide citations when appropriate (especially for clinical guidelines or evidence-based practices).

Question Requirements
Each of your three questions must cover one of the following areas:

1. Vitals/Demographics: Create 1 recall-style question based directly on the patient’s vitals or demographic information.
          - This should be a straightforward factual question from the case.

2. Testing/Treatment: Create 1 question about the appropriate testing or treatment for this patient.
          - Focus on clinical decision-making regarding workup, labs, imaging, or therapies.

3. Hypothetical Scenario: Create 1 “What if?” question that changes an aspect of the case (e.g., symptoms, history, risk factors).
          - Ask how this change might affect diagnosis, treatment, or clinical course.
          - Be detailed and thoughtful — this is your chance to think critically and explore possibilities.

Step 1: Download and review this incomplete patient case. 

Step 2: Complete the missing "Differential Diagnosis" and "Patient Workup" Sections with medically accurate information. Use the guidelines laid out here to create your answer.

Step 3: Write out your answer (or paste it in from another document) on the next page. 

Note: 

1. Use proper resources like Medscape, StatPearls, UpToDate, Mayo Clinic, Centers for Disease Control, and Cleveland Clinic to help build the drawers.
   
   
2. You ARE ALLOWED to use ChatGPT, but we prefer that you use recommended resources first, then use ChatGPT to fill in drawers with relevant information. 

Prompt Building (Page 1/2): Create a role-playing AI that will act as a patient, with you [the user] as a physician in order to take the “patient's” history. 

 Instructions:

• Given this patient information, create a text prompt to instruct AI to act as the patient during an interview. 
• The patient should accurately decribe their chief complaint and history when asked. Please restrict the AI patient to only utilize the information that we have provided.
• Feel free to use chat.openai.com to test your prompt, since that’s how we’ll be assessing it!
• This is a creative task and there are many ways to achieve the goal. But for some guidance, here is a source to help you with prompt creation! https://huit.harvard.edu/news/ai-prompts
• Please note that you DO NOT have to run through the entire case, but feel free to test it out by acting as the physician while interviewing your AI patient. 

Lab Results (Page 1/2)

Step 1: Download this blank CBC template and make a copy.

Step 2: Using this patient case information, fill in the blank "Results" Column with lab values that you would expect if a CBC was ordered for this patient. [Abnormal results should be denoted with a red asterisk next to the value. Be sure to include appropriate units.]

Step 3: Provide a brief explanation for any abnormal results.

Your lab values should be consistent with the patient's diagnosis, history, signs and symptoms, etc. Use credible medical resources. 

Conference Research (Page 1/2): One of the most valuable ways for ReelDx to grow is by acquiring speaking positions at conferences. Interns on the Research team research relevant events and put their persuasive writing skills to use by carefully crafting proposals for these speaking opportunities. 

This task can be split into two parts; you will submit a document on the following page containing one paragraph for each part:

1. Research the conference NLN Nurse Education Summit from 2024 and compile a brief paragraph overviewing the conference.

Please include the following information in your paragraph, citing your sources:

• Purpose: what information does the conference aim to share each year?
• Main audience: who is this conference meant for? Who can attend? Who might benefit the most from attending?
• Benefits: why would someone want to attend this conference? What might one gain from being a speaker at this conference? 
• Formatting: how is information shared? Are there meetings, lectures, PowerPoint presentations, or forums? 
• Content: provide at least 3 titles of abstracts or presentations that have been presented at the conference in prior years

2. Come up with a fictitious company or speaker who would be ideally suited for a speaking position at this conference, and write a paragraph explaining why they are a good fit.

Teaching Points (Page 1/2)

Step 1: Follow the login instructions below to review patient case 873.

Step 2: Create a list of 3-5 Teaching Points. Teaching points should cover important or unique considerations for the diagnosis, patient's presentation, labs/imaging, etc.

Use the "Key Points and Editorial" section of cases 953 and 1001 as examples of what types of information to include in your submission.
