  • Thank you for your interest in joining the Wildlife Jewels® Rescue Crew, our trained volunteer initiative supporting wildlife search and response efforts along the Southern California coast. Please complete this interest form to tell us about your experience, availability, and interest in joining the Rescue Crew.

    Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis. Selected applicants will be invited to complete orientation and training and will receive required onboarding documents prior to activation as a Rescue Crew volunteer.

  • Which Rescue Crew pathway are you interested in?

    Search Scout Minimum commitment: 6 months, completing at least 4 Search Scout surveys per month, with approximately 1 hour of active field surveying per survey.

    Authorized Bird Rescue & Transport Pathway: An advanced pathway for Rescue Crew volunteers interested in working toward authorization for bird containment and transport. Minimum eligibility includes 1 year commitment, at least 3 months of active Rescue Crew participation, 12 completed Search Scout surveys, approximately 40 hours of relevant animal-handling experience, required Wildlife Jewels bird handling and containment training, demonstrated competency, and 6 Search Scout surveys per month. Authorization is not guaranteed.

    Participation & Conduct

    • I understand that submitting this Interest Application does not guarantee selection, acceptance, or placement as a Wildlife Jewels® Rescue Crew volunteer.

    • I understand that submitting this Interest Application does not authorize me to represent Wildlife Jewels®, act on behalf of Wildlife Jewels®, or participate in Rescue Crew activities.

    • I understand that wildlife handling, containment, and transport require specific training and authorization, and that participation in the Rescue Crew does not itself authorize me to perform these activities.

    • I understand that this Interest Application is not a volunteer agreement and does not establish a volunteer relationship with Wildlife Jewels®.

    • If selected, I understand that I will be required to complete applicable orientation and training and sign the Wildlife Jewels® Rescue Crew Volunteer Agreement, liability waiver(s), and any required role-specific documents before participating in Rescue Crew activities.

    • I understand that Wildlife Jewels® reserves the right to accept, decline, suspend, or remove volunteers from the Rescue Crew or particular roles at its discretion.
