  • Dr Mildon’s expertise in traditional Māori healing romiromi is recognised nationally. She brings a unique blend of mātauranga, wisdom, and lived experience, offering understanding beyond conventional training specialising in 'high needs' whaiora. Drawing on the knowledge of Tohunga Māori, she works with practices for healing mate makutu and mate wairangi, knowledge that is largely unavailable to Western or Māori healing practitioners and health professionals who have been trained in the biomedical system.

Her approach prioritises an authentic Tohunga (healing priest/priestess) worldview, providing culturally grounded and spiritually appropriate pathways of healing for whānau who are currently supported or sectioned under the Western Psychiatric Mental Health Act in Aotearoa.

  • The wānanga focuses on traditional Māori healing, supporting whānau to reduce reliance on harmful chemicals, such as formaldehyde, which do not break down in Papatūānuku, while nurturing and restoring balance through ngā rongoā Māori tuku iho.

Over the coming year, our wānanga will explore traditional ways of caring for tūpāpaku at home and help reconnect whānau with tangihanga tikanga, karanga, and whaikōrero.

It is a time and space for sharing stories, learning together, and strengthening our connection to culture.
