  • SUMMARY OF THE POSITION’S PURPOSE

    The Local League Coordinator (LLC) will promote USTA Adult Leagues (18 & Over) through local marketing efforts and supervise some or all of the following USTA Local Leagues; Adult, Mixed Doubles, Southern Combo Doubles, and Tri-Level Leagues in all age divisions as follows: 18 & Over, 40 & Over and 55 & Over. Optional Adult Leagues include “FUN” Social Leagues as well as Beginner programming and leagues.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Must have computer with internet access and working knowledge of basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.

    • Good organizational skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

    • Be a team player with strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

    • Knowing how to play tennis is NOT a requirement

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    Average weekly commitment may range 10–20 hours, with additional time as needed

    • Abide by USTA Kentucky's Code of Ethics.

    • Serve on the local Community Tennis Association (CTA) Board as a non-voting member.

    • Attend regularly scheduled board meetings

    • Update the local CTA Board on leagues

    • Ask for assistance where needed to promote and advertise leagues and new player opportunities as necessary

    • Work with the CTA Board to appoint a Grievance Committee, as needed.

    • Work with the CTA Board, the CTA Marketing Specialist, and the local ALC to develop an annual budget and plan for growth that includes specific marketing and promotion plans for the coming year. 

    • Develop a local league calendar of events that includes the local league deadlines along with the dates for the Kentucky State Championships.

    • Work with the designated person(s) to promote local leagues through physical and/or electronic mediums, including, but not limited to social media.

    • Prepare Local League Regulations in conjunction with the local ALC, using the updated Kentucky Regulations that include the Southern Section, and National Regulations. These are to be submitted to the State League Coordinator (SLC) for approval through the Kentucky ALC prior to local league registration open dates.

    • Negotiate costs and schedule use of courts through the Parks and Recreation Departments, Tennis Facilities and Clubs for league matches.

    • Generate all administration of Local Leagues within TennisLink including registration, flighting, and match schedules.

    • Order and distribute awards for local winning teams in alignment with the approved budget. The CTA along with the ALC may vote to spend allocated funds in another way that benefits the local leagues.

    • Act as a liaison between the Manager of USTA Kentucky Leagues and your Local Leagues.

    • Attend the annual Kentucky Local League Coordinator meeting.

    • Attend Southern LLC training when offered.

    • Work as State Championship staff for a minimum of one league championship per year.

    • Promote and support USTA Kentucky, Southern Section, and USTA National policies in a positive manner always.
