REGISTER NOW: Non-cooperation and Mass Resistance Training
  • Registration is now open!

Thank you for your interest in the November 2025 non-cooperation and mass resistance training. Many in our community and across the nation are looking for ways to stand up against attacks on our rights and freedoms. As individuals, groups, and communities we can refuse to cooperate with unconstitutional policies and actions nonviolently. When we take away our acquiescence at a massive scale, undemocratic actors can be stopped in their tracks.

At this training series, we'll learn how non-cooperation can work alongside other collective resistance strategies to stop the attacks on our community and put political power back where it belongs: in the hands of the people.

Space is limited. We recommend registering now to secure your spot.

    Who is giving the trainings?

Our trainers are members of the Freedom Trainers community, a loose network of trainers teaching folks about powerful tools of collective non-compliance and mass non-cooperation, based on tried and true tactics used by movements from around the world fighting authoritarianism. The trainers have extensive organizing and training experience in a variety of social movement contexts, including housing and climate justice, Indigenous rights and sovereignty, and more.

Where will the trainings be held?

The series will be offered in Eugene, Oregon, at an ADA accessible location. Location details will be provided to participants after they register.

    Who is sponsoring the training?

Multiple community-based volunteer organizations and groups are working together to organize and sponsor this training. We have no corporate, large donor or out-of-state support. Sponsors include Springfied-Eugene Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ), Indivisible Eugene/Springfield, 350Eugene, and the Activist Coalition of Eugene Springfield (ACES).

    Non-Cooperation 101

    Friday, November 21 | 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Non-Cooperation 101 covers the theory and practice of how people and communities can practice strategic acts of nonviolent resistance and collective mass action.

    Participants will:

    • Learn about specific tactics that successful, modern-day nonviolent resistance movements have used to undermine and eventually stop authoritarian regimes.
    • Learn how non-cooperation is related to the two other major expressions of non-violent resistance: protest/persuasion and direct action/intervention.
    • Consider how the information may apply in our own community and learn about other non-cooperation efforts already in progress.

Open to everyone except police and government entities targeting our democratic movement.

Please note that this training will be offered again on Sunday (see below). If you are only planning to take a 101 course (and not the 201), you can choose either the Friday or Sunday session.

  • Non-Cooperation 201: Train the Trainers

    Saturday, November 22 | 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Non-Cooperation 201 is a deeper dive into the anti-authoritarian playbook that builds on the content from Non-Cooperation 101.

    Participants will:

    • Engage in deeper discussion and consideration of how we can put these techniques to work in our own communities.
    • Explore effective training techniques for communicating the material to diverse audiences in ways that honor a variety of learning styles.

This session is intended for people who are committed to offering at least one Non-Cooperation 101 session in our local community and/or online, including for your own organizations and movement spaces.

  • Non-Cooperation 101: New Trainer Session

    Sunday, November 23 | 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Sunday's session will offer the same content as Friday, but will be delivered by newly trained trainers teamed up with our mentor trainer. This will be a key opportunity for Train the Trainers participants to apply their new skills, reinforce their learning, and practice faciliation in the presence of an experienced mentor.

Open to everyone except police and government entities targeting our democratic movement. We encourage all Non-cooperation 201: Train the Trainers to register for this session.
