Music Exams:
The Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) exam period provides students with the opportunity to receive formal assessment and accreditation for their instrumental or vocal studies. Students undertaking AMEB exams will demonstrate their technical skills, repertoire preparation, and musical knowledge to qualified examiners. This nationally recognised qualification supports students' musical development and provides valuable external feedback on their progress.
Preliminary $116.00
Grade 1 $124.00
Grade 2 $124.00
Grade 3 $139.00
Grade 4 $139.00
Plus approx. $100 for accompaniment fees (for woodwind/brass exams)
Music lessons
Monivae College is covering the cost of woodwind and brass music lessons for all year 7 students, therefore there will be no additional cost to families. The College is also subsidising 50% of the cost of all other instrumental and vocal music lessons, helping to make music turition more accessible to all students.
Instrument hire
Instrument hire is charged at $50 per semester and is added to your school account at the start of the semester.
Care of the instrument is the full responsibility of the student and any damage to an instrument must be reported to the Performing Arts Faculty Leader as soon as possible.
In the event that damage is deemed to have occurred outside the scope of normal wear and tear, parents/guardians will be contacted and may be asked to pay for repairs, or full replacement, as deemed necessary by the College.
After two years of learning, it is expected that students will look to purchase their own instrument, or explore hire options or hire-to-buy options. Please contact music@monivae.vic.edu.au if you have any questions or concerns.
Absence from lessons
In the event of illness or absense from school, please email the Performing Arts Faculty Leader as early as possible so that Music Tutors can be informed.
Where possible music lessons are taught on a rotational basis throughout the school day. This ensures that your child does not miss the same class each week.
Ensemble Participation
Participation in a College ensemble is expected as part of the Instrumental Music Program. Exnsemble options include: Choir, Stage Band, Concert Band and Rock Band.
Continuation of lessons
All students enrolled in music lessons are automatically re-enrolled at the end of each term, unless written notification of discontinuation is provided by a parent/guardian.
A minimum of one term’s notice is required to discontinue lessons.
Notification must be made in writing to the Performing Arts Faculty Leader, Gustav Pohl, via email at gpohl@monivae.vic.edu.au.
