Why Book Early?
The Carnival has been a valued annual community event in Portishead since 1902, attracting thousands of people from the town and surrounding areas.
Last year sold out quickly and many traders have already rebooked to save their pitch for 2026. As you can appreciate the Show Field a very popular attraction of the Carnival and space is limited. Therefore, to ensure you can secure the best space for you to showcase your organisation or company we would strongly recommend you submit your request at the earliest opportunity.
Is Electricity Available on Site?
Yes, your stall can be supplied with a 13amp, 16amp or 32amp supply. But it must be booked in advance on your form. Please note a small concession charge is made for electricity to be provided at your stall.
Can I sell Alcohol?
Yes, Carnival holds a Premises Licence for the event, so you do not need a TEN Licence. However, the number of Stalls wishing to sell Alcohol are restricted and are allocated on a first come basis. Any stall selling alcohol must ensure the supervisor / manager on the day holds a personal licence. Please note a small concession charge of £100.00 will be added to your stall fee.
Can I Sell Food?
Yes, the number of Stalls wishing to sell Food are restricted and to ensure traders can achieve maximum sales we do not allow multiple suppliers of the same type. Stalls are allocated on a first come basis. All food traders will require to have all the correct licenses and a food standards certificate of 3 stars+. Please note a small concession charge of £100.00 will be added to your stall fee.
Can I Collect for Charity on the Show Field?
Yes, however, you must hold the appropriate local authority collections licence, and your security seals must conform to your licence requirements.
Do I Need Third Party Liability Insurance?
All stallholders are required legally to have third party liability insurance in place. Once your booking has been confirmed a member of our H&S team will contact you to forward a copy of your certificate.
Does my Stall Require a Risk Assessment?
Portishead Carnival Committee want the event to be enjoyable and safe for all. To that end, all stalls, will be required to supply a Risk Assessment to cover the activities being undertaken on their stall. Once your booking has been confirmed a member of our H&S team will contact you to forward a copy of your policy.
What Happens to My Commercial Waste / Rubbish?
Stall holders are to ensure all general waste is removed from the site at the end of the event. Stalls selling food for immediate consumption must provide suitable rubbish bins at their stall and be responsible for the emptying of these bins during and after the event plus disposal of their own rubbish.
When Can I Set up my stall?
Stallholders can access the Show Field to setup from 1000hrs Friday 12th June and must vacate the field by 1400hrs Sunday 15th June 2025. A Private Security Company will be on site 24/7 throughout this time.
What are the Trading hours for the Show Field?
The Show Field opens to the public at 1230hrs on Saturday 13th June 2026 and it is currently scheduled for the site to close to the public at 2000hrs.
How Can I Enhance My Presence at The Carnival?
We have put together some very discounted rates for stall holders to advertise their presence at the show field:
Programme Advertising - Access to the show field is by programme only. You are offered a great opportunity to have a presence in the programme.
Arena Banner - A 7ft X 2ft banner advertising your company on the main arena barriers. The banner is yours to keep after carnival day so you can use it at other events. We would also like to be able to promote your attendance at the event. So, if you have photos on your website or social media that you want to use to promote your presence, please email them directly us.
How to book your stall?
To book a stall, at the Portishead Carnival Show Field, please complete the form attached and return it to showfield@possetevents.com. Once your request has been reviewed a member of the Carnival Committee will then be in touch with you to confirm your booking and provide an invoice for payment.
