The League of Filmmakers is a nonprofit digital trade publication and professional network dedicated to independent creators. We exist to elevate and unite creators across all filmmaking disciplines by providing education, visibility, and opportunity.
We publish daily coverage of independent filmmaking that include the tools, voices, and stories behind the camera.
As a contributor, you’ll join a community committed to meaningful, informed storytelling that supports, challenges, and inspires working and aspiring filmmakers.
Role: Contributor / Intern (Volunteer / School Credit)
Commitment:
• Minimum: 1 article per week
• Duration: Ongoing (or per school-semester)
• This is an unpaid role, but can be credited for school or portfolio work.
• You’ll have editorial guidance, feedback, and mentorship along the way.
What You’ll Do:
As a contributor, you will work on a variety of content including but not limited to:
• Interviews with filmmakers / directors / crew
• Profiles of emerging and underrepresented voices
• Gear reviews, tool breakdowns, workflow / software insights
• “Evergreen” articles (e.g. how-to, craft, career advice)
• Festival strategy, distribution, funding advice
• Behind-the-scenes narratives and set stories
• Industry commentary, trends, cultural critique
• Editorial pieces connecting to diversity, access, inclusion

You will pitch your topics, get assigned or propose ideas, and work with the editorial team to refine them.
