    Please fill out the audition form below. Complete the form by scheduling your audition slot.

    Beginning with the 2025-2026 season, ALL auditions will move to 30-minute time slots of ten people or less.

    Performers are asked to arrive 10 minutes before their time slot.

    Auditions are closed, which means only those auditioning may be in the house. Anyone - including all parents, grandparents, siblings, and/or legal guardians - who is not signed up for the audition in that particular time slot is to remain in the lobby until the audition process is finished.

    Auditions are appointment only; you must schedule your appointment below to finalize this audition form and secure your spot. 

    Show Dates:  February 20-March 1, 2026

    Mandatory Dates: Feb. 14 & 15, 2026 (Q2Q), Feb 16-19 (Tech Week), Feb. 20-March 1 (Show Dates/Pick Up/Strike). Availability throughout the rehearsal process may affect casting.

    Location: 238 S. Clay Street, Gastonia NC, 28052. Parking is adjacent to the building.

    Show Rating: G (Family friendly)

    This show requires 10+ performers of all ages, race, sex, gender, sexuality, nationality, and experience level. The casting team is looking for a diverse group of performers across the board. 

  • CONFLICTS for rehearsals of SEUSSICAL

    Please note that current rehearsal dates are tentative and may change. Not all performers will be called for every single rehearsal and that will be noted in the finalized calendar given out at the first rehearsal. 

    Please note that amount of conflicts and/or certain conflict dates may affect casting.

     

    Tentative Rehearsal Dates: Mondays - Fridays, Dec. 15-Feb. 19, 6:30-8:30pm (There is a designated break already established for the week of Christmas)

  • CALLBACKS

    If needed, for a callback, you will be notified by Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 10. 

    Not everyone will be needed for a callback. Callbacks are not indicative of casting.

    However, being unavailable for callbacks may affect casting.

  • AVAILABLE ROLES for SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL

    At this time, all roles are available to be cast.

    CAT IN THE HAT: Male or Female presenting. The narrator with a strong voice and presence

    Age Range: Any age. Must be a strong reader with a larger than life presence.

    Vocal Range: Tenor/Alto

    Dance Ability: Standard-Experienced

    JOJO: Male presenting. The Mayor of Whoville's son.

    Age Range: Reads 7-14 (young child/preteen). Must be a strong reader with childlike wonder.

    Vocal Range: High Tenor/Alto/Mezzo

    Dance Ability: Standard-Experienced

    HORTON THE ELEPHANT: Male presenting. The most protective and loyal creature in the entire jungle.

    Age Range: Reads 20s-40s. Must be a strong reader with a soft and lovable presence. 

    Vocal Range: Tenor

    Dance Ability: Standard-Experienced

    GERTRUDE MCFUZZ: Feale presenting. The self-conscious, one-feathered bird.

    Age Range: Reads 18-30s. Must be a strong reader that comes off as shy and timid.

    Vocal Range: Soprano

    Dance Ability: Standard-Experienced

    MAYZIE LaBIRD: Female presenting. The loud, self-centered, most beautiful bird in the jungle.

    Age Range: Reads 20s-40s. Must be a strong reader with a larger than life personality.

    Vocal Range: Mezzo/Soprano

    Dance Ability: Experienced

    SOUR KANGAROO - Female presenting. Loud, bossy and stubborn.

    Age Range: Reads 25-45. Must be a strong reader with a soulful attitude.

    Vocal Range: Alto/Mezzo

    Dance Ability: Standard-Experienced

    MR. MAYOR - Male presenting. 

    Age Range: Reads 30+

    Vocal Range: Tenor/Baritone

    Dance Ability: Standard

    MRS. MAYOR - Female presenting.

    Age Range: Reads 30+

    Vocal Range: Mezz/Soprano

    Dance Ability: Standard

    THE WICKERSHAM BROTHERS - Male presenting. Crazy, funny, out-of-control.

    Age Range: Any

    Vocal Range: Any

    Dance Ability: Standard-Experienced. Tumbling/gymanstic experience a plus.

    JUDGE YERTLE THE TURTLE - Male presenting. 

    Age Range: Reads 30+

    Vocal Range: Baritone

    Dance Ability: Standard

  • PLEASE NOTE

     Mainstage productions do not have any fees associated with auditions and/or callbacks. 

    *If cast, performers ARE required to provide the following:

    -Shoes (unless otherwise noted). Depending on the production and the character, this can include sneakers, boots, dress, character and/or jazz shoes.

    -Make-up (unless otherwise noted). 

    -Undergarments (unless otherwise noted). This includes but does not exclude: underwear, undershirts, bras, socks, hoisery, dance belts, dance shorts and/or nudies, depending on the production and character.

    *If cast, performers MAY be asked to provide the following:

    -Costume Pieces: which are usually pants or common staple pieces performers already own. If performers do not already own the piece but decide to purchase it, they own that piece unless they choose to donate it. If performers do not already own the piece and do not want to purchase it, they will not be required to do so.

    -Accessory Pieces: if the performer already owns accessories that are needed in the script or desired for costuming purposes, such as jewlery, hats, wigs, purses, etc. - they may be asked to bring those in. The performer is not required to purchase these pieces. 

    *If cast, and the show has RENTED MATERIALS (specifically scripts, librettos, and/or music books), performers are required to put down a $50 script deposit. This fee will be held until rented materials are returned in proper condition and then given back to the performer. 

    -Script deposit are due at the first rehearsal. 

    -Script deposit can be taken via credit card number on file, personal check, or cash in an envelope with the performer's name on it. 

    -Script deposit are kept locked in the office until strike.
