  • Special Sections

WORKSHOPS, PERFORMANCES, CHILDREN’S LABS, EVENTS, OBJECTS FOR THE BOOKSHOP, OTHER.
  • Proposals and Projects on Paper

Beyond the main sections of the Biennale, LUBICA offers the opportunity to take part in special sections dedicated to those who explore paper in innovative and multidisciplinary ways. You can submit a project related to workshops, performances, children’s labs, events, objects for the bookshop, or other initiatives consistent with the philosophy and values of the Biennale.Fill out the form below to present your idea or project.
  • “Real Unreal” – A starting point, not a constraint.

Participation in the special sections is not bound to the main theme of the Biennale. However, drawing inspiration from “Real Unreal” can be an added value. The theme invites participants to explore the delicate boundary between the real and the unreal — between what we perceive as tangible and what belongs to the realm of dreams, imagination, or artificial construction. It can serve as a creative stimulus, a freely interpretable thread that encourages reflection on how the real and the imaginary intertwine, influence, and transform one another.Whether you choose to follow the theme or not, what matters most is that your proposal expresses something authentic, able to engage with the living material of paper and with the spirit of LUBICA.
  • Admission Requirements

    • Submit an original project
    • Be at least 18 years old

    Important note:
Applications presenting artworks intended for participation in the main sections of the Biennale will not be considered under this call. This open call refers exclusively to the special categories — namely workshops, performances, children’s labs, events, objects for the bookshop, or other related initiatives.

    Timeline and Application Process

The open call for LUBICA’s special sections remains open year-round, offering the opportunity to submit projects and ideas even beyond the official Biennale dates.

However, to take part in LUBICA 2026, applications must be submitted by May 31, 2026. Proposals received after this date may be considered for collateral events or future initiatives connected to the Biennale.

We strongly encourage applicants to submit their proposals as early as possible: selections are reviewed on a rolling basis, and early submissions increase the chance of being included in the official LUBICA 2026 program.
