  • Session 10: Exemplars and Elite Theory

    Join us on Friday, March 21st at 2:00 PM for our next Philosophy Cafe as we explore the nature of mastery. 

    Who are the great individuals that a civilization looks up to? and what role do they play in shaping culture and inspiring others? These are questions that cut to the heart of how societies organize themselves and what they value. They are also related to political questions about elite theory, which is something I am very interested in exploring. But before understanding the political aspects of elite theory, it is worth going into some of the more fundamental sociological ideas, which is what we will be focusing on this week.
