From the Producers of MAMMA MIA! (2025) MARY POPPINS (2024), SUPERSTARS (2024), BILLY ELLIOT (2023), JERSEY BOYS (2022) & CHESS (2021) comes the magical event of the year!

The Very Popular Theatre Company presents Disney’s FROZEN, the epic story of two royal sisters, Elsa and Anna. When Queen Elsa’s hidden ice powers trap their kingdom in an eternal winter, her fearless sister Anna sets off on a dangerous quest to find her.

Teamed up with the Kristoff, his reindeer Sven, and the hilarious snowman Olaf, Anna must battle the elements to save their kingdom and heal the powerful bond of sisterhood.

Featuring unforgettable songs and a breathtaking expanded score, this is a powerful tale of true love, family, and courage. 

FROZEN will cast its spell on Newcastle in October 2026, for a magical 3 week season at the Civic Theatre Newcastle.

PRODUCTION DATES

Applicants must commit to being available for both a 4 week rehearsal period and the performance schedule. All shows will be performed at the Civic Theatre Newcastle.

REHEARSALS 

• Rehearsals will commence September 15 2026 - October 9 2026
• All rehearsals held in the Newcastle area
• Principal cast members will need to be available Tuesday to Friday 1pm-10pm and Saturday to Sunday 10am-6pm.
• Ensemble cast members will need to be available Tuesday to Friday 6pm-10pm and Saturday to Sunday 10am-6pm.
• Please look over the rehearsal and production schedules carefully, due to the reduced rehearsal period, all cast members must be available to attend all rehearsals they are called for.

COMPENSATION

Ensemble artists will receive an honorarium of AUD $2,000

AUDITIONS

The audition process will comprise of an initial video submission. All successful applicants will be invited to an in-person audition on Saturday May 2 and Sunday May 3. You must be available for both of these days if required.

All auditionees with the exception of Young Elsa and Anna must be aged 18 years or over at the time of the first performance. All roles in this production are being auditioned, no roles have been precast. We are looking for a diverse cast of performers. All ethnicities and gender types are encouraged to apply for any roles.

First round auditions will be via video submission to be received before Monday March 30 at 11:59pm. 

We ask you to record a song in the style of the show. Please do not perform a song from the show.

IN-PERSON CALLBACKS

May 2 & 3 at Lambton High School - 15 Young Road, Lambton, NSW 2299

 In-person callbacks will be run by the creative team in group settings, with auditionees required to do some or all of the following:

• learn choreography & dance
• sing songs - musical scores will be sent through in advance, and
• read scenes from the show - material will be provided in advance

ENSEMBLE CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

Pabbie

Male, Any Ethnicity, 30s-50s. The wise and paternal leader of the Hidden Folk (the trolls from the film). He is a strong, mystical presence who offers guidance to the royal family.

Vocal range: Bass-Baritone. Top D4 - Bottom F2.

Bulda

Female, Any Ethnicity, 30s-50s. A maternal, sassy, and comedic member of the Hidden Folk who raised Kristoff. A strong character actress with a good belt.

Vocal range: Alto/Mezzo-Belt. Top C5 - Bottom F3.

Queen Iduna

Female, Any Ethnicity, 30s-40s. The Queen of Arendelle, mother to Elsa and Anna. She is a warm, loving mother who sings the signature lullaby "All is Found." Has a mystical, ethereal quality.

Vocal range: Mezzo-Soprano. Top G5 - Bottom G3.

Oaken

Male, Any Ethnicity, 30s-40s. The cheerful, quirky, and "hygge"-obsessed owner of Wandering Oaken's Trading Post and Sauna. A great comedic character actor.

Vocal range: Bari-Tenor. Top F#4 - Bottom C#3.

Additional Ensemble

Any Ethnicity. Excellent singers, dancers, and actors to play Townspeople of Arendelle, Hidden Folk, Oaken's Family, Palace Staff, and other supporting roles. Strong technical dancers (ballet and jazz) and singers with strong musical theatre voices are required. Acrobatic skills are a plus. Some ensemble members may be asked to cover lead roles.

To audition for Frozen I understand that;
