Share your sculpture with our community!
Each year, Red Wing’s historic downtown becomes an open-air gallery - a place where creativity meets community, and art is woven into our daily lives. We invite artists to submit proposals for our 2026–2027 Red Wing Sculpture Walk, a year-long rotating exhibition featuring 7 temporary sculptures installed in Spring 2026.
Selected by a peer review panel of local community members, participating artists will have their work displayed in a setting visited by thousands each year. All sculptures are available for purchase.
With more than 30 permanent public artworks already enlivening our streets, the Art in the Heart of Red Wing program reflects our city’s commitment to creativity and community connection.
This program is made possible through the partnership of Red Wing Arts, the City of Red Wing’s Arts & Culture Commission, generous local supporters, and by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts & cultural heritage fund.

Artist & Installation Guidelines
Artists may submit up to three original works. There is no fee to apply.

- Artists must be 18 years or older.
- Artists are responsible for transportation of artwork with installation support from Red Wing Arts and the City of Red Wing Public Works Department and must be present during installation of their artwork.
- Artwork must be suitable for pedestals ranging in size from 36"×36" up to 48"×48".
- Artwork must include tabs or a steel plate that can be welded or bolted to mounting plates.
- Artwork must be ready for delivery and installation in Spring 2026.
- Artwork must be available for sale.
Honorarium - Selected artists will receive a $1,400 honorarium:
- $1,000 upon delivery and installation
- $400 upon pickup after the exhibition period
By submitting a work, applicants agree to the following terms:
Artists permit the sponsors of the exhibition to install the artwork with or without the artist’s assistance. Sculptures delivered to Red Wing Arts (RWA) must match the submitted photos in form, finish, and color; RWA reserves the right to refuse delivery if the work does not meet this standard. Artwork will remain on display from spring 2026 through April 2027.
RWA and the City of Red Wing reserve the right to remove a damaged sculpture in the interest of public safety if prompt and satisfactory repairs are not made by the artist. Sculptures are covered under RWA’s liability insurance once received and approved upon delivery by an RWA staff member. Artists are responsible for the delivery and pickup of their sculptures at the designated times. Any sculpture not retrieved by that date will become the property of Red Wing Arts.
All submitted works must be of sound design, safe construction, freestanding, and suitable for outdoor public display in Red Wing. Any sculptures requiring repair upon delivery will have the cost of those repairs deducted from the artist’s honorarium. In the event of a sale, the artist will be paid a 75% commission of the sculpture price set by the artist.
