  • Christmas Parade Policies

    • For the safety of spectators, NO ITEM OF ANY KIND MAY BE THROWN FROM A UNIT IN THE PARADE.  This includes CANDY.  Walkers along a unit may hand to hand distribute candy to the crowd, but it must not be thrown.

    • To ensure parade and theme continuity, all entries MUST be decorated for Christmas. Entries will be evaluated prior to roll out. Without Christmas decor, an entry may be deemed ineligible to participate by the parade staff.

    • Entries having children under age 18 must provide parents or other adult chaperones to walk alongside and supervise.

    • The City of Greenville, Greenville Tourism, parade officials or parade sponsors are not responsible for the safety of the participants on any given float. Safety of participants is self-managed by the individual float sponsors/owners.

    • No actions that would endanger spectators along the streets are allowed.

    • This is a family and children oriented event. Participants should conduct themselves professionally and do nothing that would compromise this event (profanity, conduct, etc.)

    • No advertising of drugs or tobacco products.

    • No political, social, or personal agendas.  Currently serving elected officials may ride in the parade with signs identifying their status.  They may not campaign for re-election, nor display any electioneering materials in the parade. The parade is a campaign-free zone.

    • No one is allowed to ride on a running board, hood, roof or vehicle fender.  There may be no movement of persons between the truck and trailer during the parade.

    • Entries that include live animals MUST have someone within the unit that will clean up any mess made during the parade (pooper scoopers).  All animals must be leashed or harnessed.

    • No hot rodding, hot shots, burnouts, or wheelies will be allowed during the parade.  This rule is in place to protect spectators.

    • Entries are not allowed to have or display a real-life Santa Clause on their float or driven vehicle.  The City of Greenville will sponsor the Santa float.

    • All entries must pick up their parade entry number at the official's tent.  This number should be placed on the drivers side windshield or front left side of unit, visible to the judge’s eye for proper judging recognition.

    • Due to height restrictions, please keep entries under 13' 6" tall.
  • Christmas Parade FAQ's

  • What is the date and time of the parade?

    • The parade will be December 6, 2025 begining at 6:00 pm.

What happens if it rains or snows?

    • In the event of significant rain or snow the parade officials will make  the decision to cancel the event.

    What is the parade route?

    • The parade route begins at the intersection of Trowbridge St. and Main St. It will travel south and end at the intersection of South Main and Hopkinsville St.

Where will parade check-in be located?

    • You MUST check in upon arrival. Parade check-in will begin at 4:30 pm and will be located at the Greenville Elementary School REAR parking lot on Trowbridge Street. There will be a table with a sign designating the check-in booth.

Where will my entry be in the parade?

    • Currently, entries location are based on line up which is a first-come-first-serve basis. If you would like to be earlier in the parade we suggest you check-in as early as possible. However, some entries (i.e. fire trucks, army equipment, officials, etc…) will already have a pre-determined spot in the parade. Your assigned entry number does not necessarily indicate your position in the parade.

Where will my entry be stationed for line-up before the parade begins?

    • The staging areas will vary, but after check-in you will be told the exact place where you must wait. The following is a general guideline of where certain entries will be.

o All motorized floats & vehicles (including motorcycles): Greenville         Elementary School rear parking lot and Trowbridge St. (see diagram below)
      o Horse Units: Center St.
o All Pedestrian Units: Trowbridge Street
      o Marching Bands: TBD

    Where should pedestrian units park?

    • Staging will be on Trowbridge Street, however the parade route will end at the intersection of South Main and Hopkinsville St. At the end of the parade route, pedestrian units will be directed down Court St (in front of Family Dollar) and back towards the Police Department. A good parking lot between the staging location and the end of the route is Old National Bank. Please use their back/lot.

Is there a best entry/float contest?

    • Yes, prizes will be awarded.
