2026 NPC Power Application Logo
  • Welcome to the NPC Power Application for Neotropolis 2026

This form is for theme zone factions both big and small, and is designed to teach you about the grid at Neotropolis and provide NPC with the data needed to design the grid.
  • FREE POWER AVAILABLE!

    But first some light reading...

You may save your work in this application as you go, so don't worry about starting your submission without all your data collected.

This application is designed to educate and guide you on safety requirements for your faction build. You will want to download the power calculator and start filling that out as you get your app ready. Then come back here, go to the end of the form and input your calculated amperage and answer questions about generators or open flame usage.

The NEW 2026 power calculator form will output the total power draw recorded by your faction at Neo 2025, and can be downloaded HERE. Download this now and start updating it with your anticipated power loads. The totals will be added at the end of the form.

Want to download your app from last year for reference? CLICK HERE

Take a moment to download and review the Neo power code HERE.

If you are an approved sub-faction within a HEAVY POWER FACTION like Kaiju (i.e. you know your space will be setup inside another faction's space), please click through the app to learn about the grid, but DO NOT SUBMIT AN APPLICATION! Provide any of your amperage info to your large faction leader and let them add you to their total amperage request.

Now, let's get you educated and plugged in - Coach ...ehem...

  • NEO POWER CODE Q&A: The following images and questions will help your faction understand the minimum required safety standards in the theme zone at Neotropolis to pass inspection and receive a permit from NPC to jack into the grid.

Read, learn, respond: It's like the safety dance, but with questions instead of gyrations!
  • Image-40
  • NOPE!

ANYTHING on the MAIN POWER GRID should be left ON... plugged in, powered on, and left alone. Surges in power, blown breakers, and generator surges can disrupt the event and send NPC's (whom are probably on break) into a full panic attack. Keep the power flowing to your space and use specific signage or barriers to signal to others that your space is closed for business.
  • CORRECT!

ANYTHING on the MAIN POWER (PERM GRID) should be left ON. Anything designed to be turned on and off in your space should be identified in your application and connected to a second line run to your space on the (TEMP GRID). It is highly preferred that all items be turned on and left on during the event. Items like tea kettles and projectors that don't work in the daylight would be placed in your temp grid calculations. *Remember, you will need a second surge suppressor for any TEMP loads.

  • NOPE!

Your mother must be proud of you putting your pants on ALL BY YOURSELF! Now quit messing around and go get a fist full of Velcro for your Neotropolis build.
  • CORRECT!

Velcro is the only correct answer *(this event is not sponsored or promoted by the Velcro brand and should not be associated with the brand directly or indirectly, we just like it a lot)

  • Internal (small) Power Factions: (MB1 / Vendors / Etc.) Your surge suppressor should be attached above the ground in an accessible location in your faction space.

Knowing is half the battle, and when the power goes out in your space, knowing where the first test point for diagnosing your power outage is happens to be rather important. For that reason, and Fire/Safety inspections at a glance, your power connection point should be as visible and accessible as possible.
  • External (small) & Heavy Power Factions: (Kaiju / MB54 / Etc.) Your surge suppressors should be attached above the ground at a location determined with an NPC representative.

Come check in with the NPC's and schedule a power walk. The NPC's will work with you on your main power drop and determine the best place to place and access your surge suppressor(s)

  • IT IS YOUR JOB TO ENSURE YOUR FACTION, CAMPMATES, & GUESTS UNDERSTAND THE FOLLOWING:

YOU CAN NOT USE AN UN-PERMITTED GENERATOR IN THE THEME ZONE!

    (INCLUDING THEME ZONE CAMPING AREAS)

You must follow the generator policy set by the event and self police your faction camping areas within the theme zone!

If this is an issue for your faction, please camp across the street outside of the theme area where generators and power connections are not under such a high level of review and scruiteny. All generators and fuel sources are subject to review and rejection by event staff or the fire dept.

*DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RUN A CORD ACROSS THE ROAD OR BOUNDARY TO YOUR THEME ZONE CAMP. THIS CAN/WILL BE REMOVED AND REPORTED TO SECURITY.

  • Outside the theme zone generators are subject to inspection at any time. The event, or Fire Department may request you disable and stow gasoline generators and fuel.

It is highly recommended that you convert your generator to a regulated propane generator, or use solar / diesel to power your camp. Live fueling and spillage of gasoline can create major safety issues. Please ensure your generator is safe, and make recommendations, to your neighbors in the camping areas should you see anything the does not meet the event's safety standards. When in doubt anywhere at the event, go notify the COMMAND CENTER that you found a safety issue. Choose "Yes" above to continue.
  • NEO POWER CODE Q&A

Read, learn, respond: Seek and you shall find (an approved application for a personal generator)!
  • Image-95
  • Absolutely no personal generators will be allowed within certain portions of the THEME ZONE.

This Includes Mega Block 1, Kaiju and the surrounding theme zone faction spaces.

Where theme zone is expanded across roads, those factions will be approached by NPC during the application review process about working with surrounding theme camps on a standalone power plan. This could include using shared generator power from one or more factions in these areas. We will not know how this plays out untill all the power apps are in, the map is locked down and we know what sort of power is needed and can be supplied by these factions.

Remember, NPC would rather put your faction on our grid than have you operate any kind of standalone power system at the event. Camps placed in certain areas of the theme zone will be prohibited from operating generators to power publicly accessable (Theme) spaces.

The event is open to allowing inspected propane and diesel generator setups in some non-public areas of theme zone camping areas. However, this will be extremely limited and subject to change or rejection based on safety or noise issues.

If you are or anticipate being an EXTERNAL FACTION, and have a standalone power generation system, PROPANE / DIESEL/ OR BATTERY, that you would like us to consider for approval to power your faction or faction camping area (understanding all of the above conditions) click Yes below.

You must request permission from the event for any open flame device you would like to operate, and the answer will likely be "NO".

  • Safety Notice: AC Power Systems at the Event

These systems are battery power systems that generate AC power via outlets on the side of the unit.

We want to address a serious safety issue regarding the use of different AC power systems in the same area. To keep everyone safe, we have updated our power guidelines for this event.

    Important Guidelines

Independent Power Sources - Not Allowed: You cannot use your own power generators near our power systems in the Theme Zone of Neotropolis. Common systems include Jackery, Anker, Ecoflow, and others.

Approved Systems: Battery-powered systems that provide AC power through outlets (like UPC/APCs) are allowed. These systems should have built-in protections to ensure they don’t create dangerous electrical issues.

Inspection Required: We will approve only certain types of UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) units that can protect against power loss and surges. To be approved, these UPS units must not show more than 3% phase difference and must have less than 1 volt difference between the input and output hot wires. Please let us know if you plan to use a UPS so we can inspect it.

Why Are These Systems a Safety Concern?
While these power systems may seem harmless, they can hide serious dangers, especially when used together.

    Understanding Out of Phase Systems
When power comes from the wall, it’s called AC (Alternating Current). Portable Power Station devices convert this AC power to DC (Direct Current) for storage in batteries. When the device is used, it converts DC back to AC.

This process can lead to situations where two power sources operate out of sync or “out of phase.” If you have two separate systems running at different phases, it can create dangerous voltage differences between any wires, including ground wires.

    Real Risks
If these two systems are connected, there’s a risk that touching metal objects (like scaffolding) while adjusting equipment can result in a shock. This shock can vary in severity, potentially reaching between 5 and 200 volts, which can seriously injure someone. Finding and seperating the systems is dangerious work. And over voltage can destroy equipment and cause battery systems to catch fire or explode.

    Worse Case Scenario
If one of the power systems creates a dangerous electrical connection (like a light sparking against the scaffolding), this connection between systems might bypass safety features like circuit breakers and GFCI systems. If this happens, we may need to shut down the main power supply for everyone’s safety until we can investigate and resolve the issue.

    All Generators Carry Risks
The same safety principles apply to fueled generators. We take extra care to ensure that different power systems are separated and independently managed to prevent any dangerous connections.

Electricity can be very hazardous, which is why we have strict safety measures in place. We want to make sure everyone at the event can enjoy a safe experience without worrying about electrical dangers.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

  • Faction Type

    Faction Type

This section is designed to fast track you into the correct application category. (2023 Map) No spoilers here.
  • Heavy Power Faction i.e. Kaiju or M.Bay 54
Select this option you are representing a single Large faction, possibly with other smaller factions inside your walls. These factions aren't always about about physical footprint, a major power draw can come in a small package.

IF YOU PLAN ON BEING A SMALL FACTION WITHIN A HEAVY POWER FACTION DO NOT SUBMIT AN APP TO NPC, RUN YOUR CALCS AND PROVIDE IT TO YOUR HEAVY POWER FACTION REP.

If you are expecting too see between 30 to 50 amps usage, then you are a heavy power faction.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Internal Power Faction i.e. Megablock 1 / Mega Mall

Select this option if you are faction or vendor that applied for placement within a portion of the Neotropolis scaffold structures. If you selected either inside or outside the Megablock and the event has not given you word on placement yet, choose this option as default.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

External Power Faction i.e. Gentleman Loser / Dropship 74

Select this option if you are faction or vendor that applied for placement OUTSIDE the Neotropolis scaffold structure. This applies to factions looking for frontage along the main drag, food vendors, and art/sound installations.

  • BUILD / INSPECTION DATES:

Most External Faction builds will begin Sunday April 26th 2026

MB1 and Vendor builds are slated to begin on Monday April 27st 2026

ALL FACTIONS SHOULD BE READY TO HAVE YOUR POWER CONNECTIONS SCHEDULED FOR INSPECTION AND TESTING

    NO LATER THAN 6PM TUESDAY

    April 28th 2026

NPC uses the dates provided below to anticpate your arrival and schedule initial power design walks for external power faction spaces. The power supply location for big spaces like Kaiju, MB54 etc. could change day to day ahead of the event. So your main power drop needs to be discussed early on. When you check in with Faction Relations, also come schedule a talk with NPC.

Internal power factions inside the vendor or megablock spaces should always anticipate power being dropped (initially) in the back left of your space. We will work with you to tag the power drop final location.

  •  ALL FACTIONS NEED TO BE INSPECTED!

    TESTED

    AND APPROVED!

    PRIOR TO THE EVENT OPENING

    Wednesday April 29thd 2026!

NPCs will stay on shift Tuesday ahead of the event to complete this process. However, our volunteer staff only have so many hours in the day to commit to waiting on you to complete your build. Please be mindful of our the volunteer staff's time and ability to inspect in the dark.

We will be closing all inspections at 8pm Tuesday with limited (scheduled) inspections taking place after this time.

ALL other inspections will need to wait until 9am Wednesday while the event is open, and will require your faction space to remain CLOSED until fully inspected and approved.

This could limit your ability to supply your faction power at the event as we need to consider the safety of participants, and interuption of other factions power supply.

Again, last call for power without prior approval is Tuesday April 28th at 6pm.

  • THE POWER APP

Some of your choices on the previous sheets have custom tailored your entry options below, if you are not a LARGE FACTION, we are talking HUGE... like REAL DARN BIG, with MASSIVE SOUND SYSTEMS, and pre-approval from the event to be a big deal... Then you are most likely an Internal / External Power faction. Go back and choose accordingly or your power app will need to be re-submitted.
  • HEAVY POWER FACTIONS

looking for 30, 50 or 100a 120v supply of power?... Then it may be better to avoid trying to fill in every cell in the calculator. But be warned.... it's real easy to overestimate your power needs. The NEW 2026 Power Calculator includes a section that shows you your totals from last year which may be helpful. DOWNLOAD IT HERE

Want to download your app from last year for reference? CLICK HERE

As you add items to your faction space, pick up a cheap Watt meter from your local hardware store or amazon and use it to take individual readings, this makes things real accurate and easy!

We recommend you try to have everyone in your group give you an individual calcudatar for their equipment and keep it updated for piece of mind. Estimate what you need and we will work with you from there. If you are able to complete the calculator and upload it to jotform, awesome!

Maximum Power Allowance will based on your form submission and we will be designing the entire grid around these numbers. We will be testing to ensure that you are not exceeding that usage prior to grid tie-in. If you are over capacity, you will need to (TEMPORARALY) remove items from the grid to make sure we have powers for others.

With Great Power comes personal responsibility. A maximum power limit does not mean that you should chooch your numbers up in the app to avoid having your power limited... Accuracy is more important than the end total. Once the grid is fully tested and loads are stable, the NPC's will let you know if you can lug that one thing back into the grid and will amend your permit card accordingly.

Learn how to find and input your loads into the Power Calculator on YouTube

Large factions should consider everything to be on the Constant power grid, you will need to work out internally how you will keep surge loads from downing your audio rig... NOT OUR PROBLEM MAN!... Use the calculator to ballpark from last years usage and punch in the amps needed. We will break power out in 20, 30, 50, 60, 100a chunks based on our ability to breaker those loads.

  • If you want to speed run the application process: As you build your faction space, pick up a cheap Watt meter from your local hardware store or amazon. Take a photo of the total Amps reading with everything turned on and upload it below and submit it with your power application. You may bring this to Neo and keep it plugged in to your faction space to speed up your power inspection as well. The NPC crew will be very excited by this.

  • Internal & External Power Factions:

Review the following links before proceeding:

    1. Learn how to find and input your loads into the Power Calculator on YouTube

    2. Download the Power Calculator if you were a faction in 2025, you can use this tool to lookup your power usage last year!

WHAT ARE CONSTANT POWER DEVICES? These are AC powered things that will be plugged into your surge arrestor, turned on, and left running the entire event to keep the main power grid up, balanced, and stable.

WHAT ARE TEMP POWER DEVICES? These are AC powered things that will be turned on and off for short periods of time. Temp grid connections require review and approval along with a seperate surge arrestor in your faction space. This line will be powered by a different power source and shared with many other factions, each of which may need between 1 and 13 amps of power to run a coffee pot, or other approved item. Should you also have a large amperage item and turn it on at the same time, the breaker will trip. We can't supply multiple temp grid connections due to the limited number of supply lines we have avaialbe from electrical panels. However, working with your temp grid neighbors will allow you to "thematically" announce that you are about to jack into the power grid for some juice can be fun. And when you blow the breaker, the normally powered items will be unaffected, and you will need to go seek out an NPC to get your temp grid back up and running while your temp power grid neighbors chastise you for breaking the grid. If you can't just leave something on full time, or it is fairly high amperage and you don't think it needs to be used for more than 3 hours, put it in your temp grid calcs.

NPC will often times shift what you think should be tempoary (lights in particular) over to the perm grid. Keep them on, keep the grid stable, who cares if you can't see them during the day.

  • !? NO POWER ?!

Entering zero for your grid load does not compute! If you are going to use low wattage low voltage battery powered equipment only, that will be ok, and you should detail that below. Otherwise, if you plan on running a generator (see all of the previous cautionary notes), or a battery bank, etc. You still need to show us how much AC load you are COULD use. Should the event be able to supply power to your remote standalone space, we would like to know how much power you would need for NPC to support you. Whatever strange ideas you have... Explain below.

  • GET READY FOR NEO... (links to examples of some of the requested items at the end)

Upon power application approval, you will be given a copy of the NEO POWER CODE. This will be your path to power approval at the event and will cover a number of things regarding generator/fire safety and power grid do’s and don'ts. Your faction, and any other camping space in and or around the event is subject to inspection and adherence to the code. Violating these guidelines will not get you booted from the event, but it will be the end of your faction's power privileges.

So, here are some things to expect in order to tie into the NPC power grid:

Fire Extinguisher:  You must have (1) ABC rated fire extinguisher for every faction space, or pre-approved generator / open flame device in the them zone (including camping areas).

Not withstanding any other edicts, guidelines, or rules communicated in the faction application process. Fire safety is a #1 priority at our events. All safety setbacks and requirements will be enforced by event personel and the fire marshal. These rules must be adhered to AT ALL TIMES, and inspections will take place daily to ensure adherence with rules and regulations in all theme zone areas.

Every machine is a smoke machine if you operate it wrong enough. - Some AV geek

Your end of the power bargain: An NPC is going to drop you a shared power feed based on this application. Your connection will be shared with one or more of your neighbors. Where and when that happens is a good guess at this moment.

It is our greatest hope that we will be able to start feeding, testing, and approving your amp draw as early as Monday before the event in MB1, Mega Mall & large factions, Tuesday for small factions in the theme zone.

Supply (2) 20' extension cords to feed to and from the grid tie in points. This could be between 20 and 100’ away depending on your application location and will include (1 to 2) 20' 15a rated cords (no single 20a rated cords) Make sure to put your faction name on all your extension cords (tape/sharpie) prior to arrival.

You will need to supply 10a breakerd surge suppressors for every 10a of power used. As well as Velcro straps, VERY MUCH PREFERRED over plastic zip ties to secure to the scaffolding as they do not require knives or pliers for removal/modification.

Emergency Lighting: Sometimes... the power goes out. Our NPC Servitors are prone to calling for power embargos or falling into rats nests of wires and getting a little overcharged in the excitement of things. In the case of a power outage, it's best to have an automatic light source to help you in and out of your space. This can be something as simple as a solar garden light, or, more thematically, paper lantern LED strings. These look amazing when placed in corridors outside your space and are a real life saver when things go pear shaped with the grid.

All of this will be in the NEO POWER CODE document with your power app approval, and we will point at it sternly during your pre-power safety inspection.
Download a copy to share with ALL of your faction members here.

What you need to bring to Neotropolis to receive super cool free power!
