  • Evaluation Criteria for GEMS participation grant awardees:


    •  Connection to the specific knowledge area of the event - Priority will be given to applicants who provide strong evidence of their interest in the specific knowledge area of the event, motivation for attendance and a statement explaining how attending the event will benefit their career and contribute to the field. Priority will be given to candidates with current responsibilities/ involvement in the specific field.

    • Career Stage - Priority will be given to early-career professionals*, students, and researchers. Mid-career candidates may be considered as well, mainly those with high-quality abstracts or with a proven commitment to disseminate knowledgepost-conference at their home institutions or to their teams.


    • Geography: Aim for one awardee per country, with exceptions for highly populous countries. Priority is given to candidates from the LMIC countries.

    • Equity and Balance: In evaluating candidates the Committee should consider all aspects of balance and equity in the selection process. This includes considering factors such as gender, race, ethnicity, and other aspects of diversity to ensure fair representation across the global community.

    • Past Recipients: Generally, applicants who received a grant in a previous year should be disfavored.


    *Early Career professionals are those who completed their final degree within the past 10 years. They should provide a certificate or diploma with the completion date of their studies.
