  • CYO provides you the opportunity to play basketball in a league that promotes a positive culture that is safe and where there is respect between all involved including players, coaches, fans, officials and CYO Staff.  Sportsmanship, respect, and safety are extremely important to our CYO Basketball program.  Please know that we do this for a greater purpose than just playing and winning basketball.  We want you to have a great experience and build greater bonds with your church/team, your teammates, your coaches, and your opponents.

    Please read the Code of Conduct with your child to ensure they will understand the expectations as a player with CYO Basketball.  NO PLAYER WILL BE ALLOWED TO PLAY WITHOUT A SIGNED PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT ON FILE WITH THE CYO Office.  

          CYO Code of Conduct    

    SPORTSMANSHIP, RESPECT, & SAFETY ARE CRUCIAL TO CYO. 

    WE PLAY WITHIN THE RULES. 

    NO INTENTIONAL FOULS.

    NO TRASH TALKING. 

    NO VERBAL HARASSING ANYONE AT ANY TIME. 

    WE PLAY HARD AND TOUGH DEFENSE AND PLAY GOOD BASKETBALL BUT WE DO SO WITHIN THE BOUNDS OF THE RULES AND WITHIN THE BOUNDS OF FAIR PLAY. 

    IF YOU GET FOULED OR A REF CALLS SOMETHING YOU DON’T AGREE WITH, YOU DON’T RESPOND ON THE COURT.  YOU LET YOUR COACH KNOW AND ALLOW YOUR COACH THE OPPORTUNITY TO RESPOND.

    IF PARENTS HAVE CONCERNS PLEASE LET COACHES AND/OR CYO STAFF KNOW. 

    THERE IS NO REFEREEING FROM THE BENCH OR FROM THE STANDS. 

    CYO HAS A 5 TECHNICAL FOUL TEAM RULE.  ANY TEAM RECEIVING 5 UNSPORTSMAN TECHNICAL FOULS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM THE CYO LEAGUE. 

    DON’T BE A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO HAVING YOUR TEAM KICKED OUT OF THE LEAGUE.

    ANY PHYSICAL ALTERCATIONS (FIGHTING, PUNCHING) WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AND ANY PLAYER INVOLVED IN SUCH WILL BE SUBJECT TO IMMEDIATE SUSPENSION FOR THE SEASON

    The following situations will be subject to disciplinary action.  "Unsportsmanlike" behaviors include, but are not limited to, the following: 

    Dunking the ball during warmups or dead ball

    Excessive swinging of arms or elbows

    Fighting, throwing a punch, pushing, or tripping

    Taunting or trash talking

    Profane language 

    Arguing with a referee

    Making contact with an official

    Refusal to follow a referee's command

    Refusal to leave the court after being disqualified

    Changing uniform #'s during a game

    Arguing with the official scorekeeper or timer, CYO staff, Event Staff 

    Slapping the backboard

    Hanging from the rim

  • CYO Age Verification:

    High School (Grades 9-12) 

    -A player who reached his 19th birthday before Jan 1, 2026 is ineligible for CYO High school division.

    Junior High (Grades 6-8)

    -A player who reached his 14th birthday before Jan 1, 2026 may not play in the junior high league.

    Coaches must review documentation of proof of age.

    CYO School Verification:

    *A player must be an officially enrolled student and meet academic eligibility requirements.

    *GED students – Must be enrolled in a GED program that runs during the CYO basketball season.

    *Home-schooled students – Must provide documentation that the player is home schooled and has maintained applicable state standards to appropriate grade level.

    *Suspended students – No player will be allowed to dress for a game while serving an in or out of school suspension. You must report this to your coach. 

    *A member of a Varsity or JV school basketball team may not play CYO basketball. A player's name may not appear on a CYO roster and a school roster at the same time.  CYO is for kids that don't play school basketball.  

    CYO Academic Eligibility:  

    *If you are failing one class, you are eligible to play.  You have two weeks to get your grade up to passing, or you will be ineligible to play until you do so.  

    *If you are failing 2+ classes you are allowed to practice but are not allowed to play in a game until you get the falling grades up to passing.  You will have two weeks to bring up your grade to passing or you will be ineligible to play until you do so.   

    Academic Eligibility is based on the honor system so parents please help us encourage our youth that school should come before sports!
