I am voluntarily participating in activities at St. Francis House, a day shelter serving up to 500 individuals daily who are experiencing homelessness, many of whom are also navigating substance use and other complex challenges.
For the safety of all guests, volunteers, and staff, I understand that if I witness a crisis or conflict, I should not intervene directly and must instead notify a staff member immediately. If a guest becomes upset or requires additional support, I will “tag in” a staff member to take over. I agree to promptly report any unsafe or inappropriate behavior.
I acknowledge that participation in volunteer activities carries inherent risks, including the possibility of physical injury, property damage, or loss. By choosing to volunteer, I knowingly and voluntarily assume all such risks associated with my participation, including those related to the use of facilities and equipment.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I release and discharge St. Francis House and its officers, employees, volunteers, and affiliates from any and all claims or liabilities arising from my participation in volunteer activities.
I agree to respect the privacy and anonymity of the guests of St. Francis House by not disclosing identifying or confidential information about any guest learned through my volunteer service or participation.
I understand that this agreement applies to all current and future volunteer activities and remains in effect unless otherwise terminated by St. Francis House.
