  • Nomination Criteria:

    Please explain and/or demonstrate how you engaged your employees in the awareness and prevention of injury and illness in the workplace during Safety and Health Week by providing the following information:

  • Safety and Health Week Engagement Award applicants are required to complete an online nomination form that outlines how the nominee has fulfilled the requirements of the nomination category. Judges base their decision on this form, as well as the following compliance criteria.

    As applicable, nominees must:

    • have a physical office in Manitoba with Manitoba residents as staff– registered business in Manitoba.
    • not have had a workplace fatality in the past 36 months
    • not have been charged under The Workplace Safety and Health Act or the Canada Labour Code in the last 36 months
    • not be subject to an administrative penalty or prosecution under The Workplace Safety and Health Act
    • not have been subject to a direction or administrative monetary penalty under the Canada Labour Code
    • be in compliance with any outstanding order, as determined by the Workplace Safety and Health Branch (WSH), and not have a history of compliance concerns, as determined by WSH
    • be in good standing with the Workers Compensation Board if an account exists, which means:
    • the account is paid in full (e.g., can obtain a WCB clearance)
    • the firm has not been convicted of fraud against the WCB, a violation of the Act, claims suppression, reprisals, or breach of return to work obligations in the last 36 months
    • the firm has not been issued an administrative penalty for claims suppression, reprisals, or failure to comply with return to work obligations in the last 24 months
    • the firm is not under an active investigation for a violation under The Workers Compensation Act for claims suppression, reprisals, or breach of return to work obligations, as determined by WCB Compliance
    • there are no outstanding remedial actions imposed on the firm to ensure compliance with preventing claims suppression, reprisals, or return to work obligations, as determined by WCB Compliance
    • not engage in conduct considered by the Safety & Health Week Awards Committee to be inconsistent with participation in this awards program.
  • Incomplete applications will not be accepted. All submission information will be held in the strictest confidence. Award recipients are selected by the Safety & Health Week Awards committee. The Safety & Health Week Committee thanks all those who submit nominations, however, only the nominee selected as the award recipient will be contacted.
