Founded in May 1987, the Port City Chapter of The Links, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charity that supports education, the arts and other community building activities in the Houston metropolitan area. Our mission is to provide resources for charitable, civic and direct service programs. These include scholarships, educational assistance and partnerships with other agencies to magnify community impact.
Purpose: To identify high school seniors and continuing undergraduate college students who possess a strong desire for academic excellence, leadership positions in student organizations, and plan on attending college in the 2026 - 2027 term as a full-time student.
Reward: Up to TWO individuals selected from the pool of qualified applicants will be awarded a scholarship for financial assistance during the 2026 - 2027 academic year of $2,500.
Qualifications: Interested candidates must meet the following criteria to qualify for this award:
- A Houston, or surrounding area, high school senior graduating in Spring 2026 that has applied to a college - OR - is currently enrolled in a college, graduating in Spring 2027 or later;
- GPA of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale;
- Major/intended major in a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, And Mathematics) subject;
- Must provide one letter of recommendation;
- Complete an essay as provided in the Application; and
- Submit a transcript and photo.
