Ontario Music Festivals Association Bursary Application 2026 OMFA Provincial Finals

The Ontario Music Festivals Association is pleased to announce the establishment of a bursary fund to provide financial aid to festival participants.
Notes:
1. Bursaries are to aid in funding the OMFA Provincial Finals registration fees.

2. Bursaries will be distributed based on financial need.

3. The amount awarded may cover the cost of 1 or 2 class registrations. The OMFA Bursary Committee may decide to cover all or part of your registration fees.

4. For legal and privacy reasons, OMFA does not require, nor accept, tax return information.

5. All applications are confidential, and the information provided will only be used for assessment by the OMFA Bursary Committee.

6. Applicants will still need to register and pay their full entry fees. If they are selected to be awarded a bursary, the funds will be e-transferred to the email indicated on the bursary application form.

Eligibility:

To be eligible, you must be registered for the OMFA Provincial Finals and demonstrate a financial need in covering the cost of the registration.
Submission Procedure:

To be considered for the OMFA Provincial Bursary, ALL the following are required:
1. Complete Sections 1 through 5 on the application form.

2. Section 4 - A Letter of Support (signed and dated), from a current music teacher/school teacher/faith leader/mentor/community member, must be sent directly to bursary@omfa.ca outlining how you would benefit from receiving this bursary assistance. Do not send these yourselves. The Letter of Support must be sent directly from your reference by the Deadline.

3. Sign and date the Declaration section (Section 5).

4. Once all mandatory fields are filled in, you will be able to proceed to click the "Submit" button. You will receive a confirmation email once it has been submitted.

5. You may also download and complete a PDF version of this form. Complete all sections as outlined above and email your completed form to bursary@omfa.ca

6. Please note that your application is INCOMPLETE until we receive a Letter of Support.

7. Application Deadline: Applications must be received by your local festival’s OMFA registration deadline. This information is posted on the OMFA website at https://omfa.ca/member-festivals (click on your local recommending festival to find the Provincial Registration Dates).
Decisions:
1. Applications will be reviewed by the OMFA Bursary Committee.

2. Successful applicants will be notified within 4-6 weeks of submittng their application, and no later than May 31, 2026. Bursaries funds will be sent via E-Transfer.

Section 4: Letter of Support
You must provide the name and contact information for the person providing the Letter of Support. The reference providing the letter of support should be someone from the community who can attest to the applicant’s commitment to music, such as a music teacher, school teacher, faith leader or mentor. The person should not be a family member.

**Exception: For school and community ensembles such as choirs, bands and orchestras the ensemble director/conductor may submit the letter of support.

The reference must email bursary@omfa.ca with the Letter of Support attached and the subject title of the email should read as “Letter of Support - [Applicant’s Name]”. The Letter of Support should comment on the applicant's musical commitment and potential financial needs.
