• Must attend Gold Coast Basketball coach development sessions and adopt the Gold Coast Basketball Style of play. 
• Must be accredited with a minimum Level 1 coaching accreditation.
• Possess previous coaching experience or basketball experience at a level that suggests you will be capable of providing quality coaching to the team.
• Demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership for the team (staff and athletes), including organisation, planning and disciplinary requirements.
• Demonstrated understanding and ability to communicate appropriately in the coordination of selections, preparation, competition and post-competition phases of the season.
• Be knowledgeable of current coaching trends and have a desire for continuous improvement of your coaching skills.
• Must hold a current Bluecard
• Complete the Safeguarding Children and Young People in Sport portal found at https://www.playbytherules.net.au/elearning-scenarios/safeguarding-children-and-young-people-sport-induction-course
• Ability to attend and coach at all trainings and games
• Must agree to work with and alongside our other Gold Coast Basketball Association coaching staff in building a successful culture

To hold a Gold Coast Representative coaching position you must hold a level 1 coaching certificate (at a minimum) 

 

 

Gold Coast Basketball will be entering the following teams into the State League competitions for men and women. NBL1, QSL and QSL Youth League for 2026.

 

1. To be considered for a position, each Coach and Assistant MUST have a level one coach accreditation.
2. All coaching positions are held on a volunteer basis. Gold Coast Basketball retains the right to remove coaches that are not acceptable in the view of the development officer.

For your application to be accepted you must have a current Blue card (please upload a photo in the designated area below).

Steps for volunteers to apply for a blue card

Create an online blue card account at https://my.bluecard.qld.gov.au/login, you will need to know your CRN number (on your driver’s license or other valid forms of ID). Please note your account number when creating your account.
