4.3 Election Bylaws
4.3.1 Nominations
The nomination of officers, delegates, alternate delegates, district representatives and alternate district representatives will be made from the list submitted by the Committee on Nominations. The multiple positions for delegate and alternate delegate shall be considered individually and not as a group. If there are additional nominations made at the March Executive Committee meeting, then the candidates for contested election may be given time to make a brief presentation regarding their candidacy. The rules for these presentations shall be determined by the President and publicized prior to the meeting at which they are to appear. Notice of the candidates and process used to be used in evaluating the candidates shall be given to all candidates who applied and to all members of the Executive Committee at least 10 days prior to the meeting. In order to appear on the ballot, a prospective candidate requires the approval of a majority of the members of the Executive Committee present and voting. The Executive Committee shall submit the slate of candidates to the membership.
President-Elect, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, ASA Director and ASA Alternate director:
No person shall be eligible for election as an officer of this Society unless they have been an active member in good standing of this Society for two years, and a member in good standing of The American Society of Anesthesiologists, Inc., for five years prior to their election. ASA Delegates and ASA Alternate Delegates:
Each delegate and alternate shall be an active member of the ASA attributed to the component society represented except that delegates of the resident and medical student components need only be members of the appropriate resident or medical student component.
