Applying an Intersectional Lens to Trauma in the Black LGBTQIA+ Community (Registration is closed for this workshop)

While there is immense power in being both a person of color and LGBTQIA+, having multiple marginalized identities can magnify discrimination and increase susceptibility to traumatic experiences.  Supportive parents, professionals and communities are essential in providing support and affirmation to empower, amplify the voices of and advocate for equity, and justice of Black LGBTQIA+ individuals.

Through this workshop participants will recognize the importance of applying an intersectional lens to the unique experiences of Black LGBTQIA + people and learn the importance of practicing cultural humility to engage in conversations and strategies for healing that are trauma responsive and person centered.

From Stress to Strength: Tapping for Self Regulation and Resilience

If you ever feel like the stress never stops, with too many needs and too little time, you are not alone. Now more than ever, professionals across hospitals, schools, and community agencies are facing high levels of stress and emotional overload. The ability to stay calm, focused, and resilient is a personal benefit and essential for the people you support.
In this practical, hands-on workshop, you will learn ‘Functional Tapping (FT)”, an abbreviated version of Tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques) an evidence-based method for lowering stress, anxiety, and trauma responses. Tapping uses gentle fingertip pressure on specific points of the face and body to calm the nervous system and bring the “thinking brain” back online. Think of Tapping like your body’s automatic built-in reset button, a quick and portable way to calm your system and bring your focus back when life feels overwhelming.

We’ll explore how stress impacts mental clarity and decision-making, and how Tapping helps regulate emotions, restore focus, and improve resilience.

By the end of this session, you’ll be able to use Functional Tapping for your own grounding and stress relief and introduce it confidently to your clients, students, or staff.
